It very much is not a 737. This a DC-10. It’s a couple weight classes above the 737. Used to be an airliner that carried hundreds of people at a time across the Atlantic. It’s a big fucking plane and it’s amazing to see one in this role.
Glad to hear you’re ok man.

You are correct, they are DC10s. “10 Tanker” is the company they are from.
They passed so close it shook the house. Usually I’m only that close to a plane during boarding.

The red streak of fire retardant on the mountain. Off to the right is the water tank for a nearby community that has a new red paint job courtesy of 10 tanker.

Aftermath
There is along the edge of Arrowcreek, an expensive community with a golf course running through it. The fairways did indeed help with firebreaks (and the HOA was patting itself on the back about it on nextdoor)
The fire ripped along one of the hiking trails I frequent that runs along a creek that comes down from the mountains. The creek was lined with aspens. Some pockets survived, most burned.
The origin point, a house fire.
Good to see a propane tank can survive a blazing inferno.
There’s a pink house over yonder.
Judging by the equipment left in this line line of pink I’m guessing the ground crews bugged out in a hurry when the bombers laid it down.
For many trees and other plants a wildfire is not a bad thing. The trees’ above ground parts are but half or even less of the entire plant, and they can grow back, or their offspring will. Wildfire is an essential part of many biomes natural cycle.
Again some pictures from the zoo in Nuremberg, Germany.
Very nice! I like the black and whites particularly.
And thanks for posting that story and the aftermath @Thrag - would be interesting to see the recovery of the bush over the following weeks.

Yesterday my wife took another hike along the creek trail. She spotted a pink rabbit. Sadly it was gone before she could get a picture.
This has the makings of a local legend.

After it looks at its watch and says, I’m very late.
Well I finally made it to the pages of The Sun, an ignominious achievement if ever there was one. Fortunately it’s mostly about our crocodile Smaug, and some photos of him doing his thing. Oh, and they called me an Aussie immigrant! (it’s a Murdoch paper, it’s their favourite word I think). Anyway, I prefer to think of myself as an escapee from the UK.
I’ll understand if you don’t want to give any clicks, but here it is anyway.
I’m at The Moot Hall and I’m mooting.

Just caught up. You guys always inspire. I don’t do much artsy fartsy stuff but mist on spiderwebs this week was too fun not to do so more abstract shots…

I’m pretty happy with these too. Last week with iPhone 11 Pro Max :)
Those are gorgeous! The first one is my favorite but they’re all great.

These are of some “sun dogs” and light pillars from El Paso in the evening last week. My first time seeing the phenomenon. (These aren’t lens flares but are visual phenomenon in the sky).
