Nice!

Here’s a pic I had one of the boys take this morning:

It’s me, our van and our tools.

On vacation in Switzerland. Saw a lot of marmots in Grindelwald earlier in the week, and today in Zermatt. I’ll get a better camera next time I buy a phone, promise.

That’s a pretty nice picture, @Jorn_Weines.

Now that’s a place that should, definitely, have at the very least some goblins, maybe a few warg packs.

Highly recommend sending a few hours at the Chateau du Vincinnes if you happen to be in Paris anytime soon. One of the highlights of our trip for me! Climbing through the keep itself was a treat. The cathedral on site was also beautiful. Took a crapload of pics of this site, the Louvre, the Eiffel tower, etc. First time for me in both London and Paris - fun trip!

Sometimes I look up at the sky and wonder if we aren’t just days away from the apocalypse.

Took a couple pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, from underneath it.

You could fit a mighty big troll under that one!

There is a troll under the bay bridge. Though it’s hard to get a picture of from the water.

Thunderstorm over Reno.

Fantastic! Is that the area heading up to Virginia City with the overlooks?

I didn’t know you were near Reno, Thrag. We were there earlier this year.

Yes, this is taken from south of the city off Mt. Rose Highway, which if you head east goes toward Virginia City and west goes over the mountain to lake Tahoe.

Awesome. My wife grew up in Reno so we made a recent trip back there and I had a great experience with her and her friends as we traveled around the area and saw the sights, including a trip up to Virginia City as well as a trip to Tahoe. We stopped at a few overlooks for pics but man, none of the sights that day were as awesome as this shot.

I loved the area. Meanwhile, it was her first trip back in over 20 years and she cried at the state of some of downtown Reno and nearby areas, while also being amazed at the progress in others.

Here’s a similar pic off the road from Reno to Virginia City without any of the cool color, weather and charm of your pic. Still, awesome views there:

Growing up, Reno was still a cliché for a place to go get a quickie divorce! Back before divorce was commonplace.

The best parts of the city are the surrounding wilderness.

Listening to the stories of folks that lived there, most say or infer this comment. It’s a beautiful environment.

For real? I thought Arizona, especially Vegas was the quickie marriage locale. I knew nothing about the divorces.

Billy Joel mentions it in a song even:

IIRC, Nevada had no contest divorce without any waiting period requirements, which other states at the time (notably California) did not.

Makes sense. And with Reno not far over the border from the Tahoe area, I could see it as the quickie location for something like that.

Reading this now, it’s fascinating …
