Those are great Reemul.

The IL-2 restoration seems to have omitted the cockpit cover? Very hardy, those Russians.

No, he just had the canopy open. :)

Back in the ol’ USA. Will be spending a lot of time sorting through photos, though about half of them are party-types that most of you probably wouldn’t be interested in.

Cung Long Resort (Vung Tau):

Rach Mieu bridge in My Tho:

My nephew’s family owns this pet monkey. He’s a pretty angry monkey that hasn’t had any in… well, maybe ever. Nuff said.

The northern most channel of the Mekong flows through My Tho:

Storm over Saigon. Man if I had an unobstructed view…

Do not adjust your monitor’s vibrance and/or saturation. These are psychedelic colored chicks being sold along a highway in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Really.

Bananas? I can see how that would make him irritable! :)

Nice shots, Alan. Keep up the good work.

No I don’t mean bananas :)

These are very basically rush-processed (and not very well) at work:

Actually these kinda look like poop… will re-post later tonight.

Woah, the space shuttle has a fighter jet escort? Is it there to shoot down anything that gets in its way? That awesome.

It’s a T-38, which is a typical chase plane that accompanies the shuttle (as well as other test flight activities for other air- and/or space-craft) on the landing phases, etc. It’s a traditional type of accompaniment, so very apt for this.

And no it’s not armed :)

Well I thought they were supposed to be T-38s.

I’ve got a dozen or so shots, and this is the first rushed one (as Alan notes). The damn was packed, and apparently the freeways are currently packed (I’ve been warned not to bother leaving the house since it seems as bad as the Rose Bowl only worse since everyone was crowding the local streets which normally dies off a block or so away for the Bowl).

Oh sorry, this was directly over the Jet Propulsion Lab, shot from the east rim of Hahamongna Park, just south of the Lab).

Holy cow. That looks like an artist’s recreation.

I sit here in the Valley. Jealous.

Those are awesome. I’m so jealous.

BTW, the chase planes are F/A-18 fighters, but they belong to NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center, so they’re not armed. They’re there for support/photos, not fighter escort.

A different white balance on this one, so blue skies rather than purpley.

And here’s an addition - this was just as it appeared to the east from the trees along the rim of the arroyo. The steady roar of the engines announced it before it came into view.

Gosh, you guys. That is stunning.

Aww, man, why does California get all the awesome stuff?

The most exciting thing I’ve seen here today was a squirrel. And it wasn’t even a terribly interesting squirrel.

sniff Beautiful, just beautiful.

Our front yard …

Bad quality pic but what-evs!

Endeavour from the lighthouse by the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific:

Die HSCROLL

No cool banking shots for me though =(

And just because there were two chase planes and this one got them both…

Some updated Endeavour shots…
