We didn’t actually get that far. I showed him the single cable that came through an outside wall (that was apparently installed by Comcast, not RCN-- we have RCN), then we showed him the rooms where there were TVs and that we wanted cable there. He said he could run a cable to the living room from the existing cable, but that he couldn’t run cable to all of the TVs upstairs and that we’d have to call someone to run cable throughout the house.
In every apartment I’ve ever rented, you put the TVs where you want them and the cable guy makes sure the cable goes to them. I’ve never had a cable guy tell me he couldn’t run cable to where I wanted a TV.

Just got a phone call about setting up a phone interview for the job I was most interested in. Working for the DNR doing water testing in the fisheries.
Hey, that’s awesome. Good luck!
The prep on my first one circa 1990 was awful, but I don’t recall the more recent one being so bad. Maybe techniques have improved since your mom had to do it?
Saw “Wicked” tonight at the Paramount in Seattle. Awesome, awesome show.

Turned the big 4-0 today. Time to hang up my gaming boots and become an adult. Not.

I moved from sunny Sydney, capital of Austria, the land down under, to Melbourne, the antarctic of the south. It’s like night and day, it is.

Happy Birthday!
Sydney is the capital of Austria?

Lorini, by prep work do you mean drinking a gallon of water with the stuff in it that flushes you out? My advice is to get a flavor you won’t mind not liking for a while afterwards. I picked Lemon Lime because I don’t drink much Lemon Lime flavored stuff.
I will tell you though . . . you will be amazed how clean your colon is afterwards. After the initial cleansing, by the 15th time you have to go to the bathroom all that’s coming out is clear water. It doesn’t even change the color of the toilet water. Pretty amazing.

This is like my dream job style job too. I get to work outside, collecting samples and data from field agents, dissecting specimens for tissue samples, basically running an ecological monitoring system for Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia in the fish population and lakes in Wisconsin.

That sounds awesome and so rewarding. Fingers crossed!
I’m in the final stages of interviewing for a job at a local art museum - they just checked my references. If I should be so lucky to get an offer, I am bracing myself for the eventuality of a pay cut relative to my last job, which isn’t easy to swallow (not like I was raking it in beforehand, either). I’m so tired of this economy, already.

I am looking forward to Bugfest tomorrow. Triangle area people should go for a multi-legged good time.

I sat around for most of yesterday at the new house waiting for the dude from Lowe’s to show up and install our water heater. I managed to sell him on a Kindle while he was there.
Our house is finally habitable now! We just have painters and carpeting coming in next week and we will be able to move in. :D

Welp, I had my colonoscopy yesterday. I surprised the docs in a good way. There were four people in there, which I was initially uncomfortable about. The butt doctor, 2 med students (1 of which was the same guy who wanted to give me a barium enema), and a nurse. I was awake, but I was drugged up good and I didn’t really know what was going on. I kind of wanted to watch the screen, but I was having too much fun trying to lift my arms and legs and babbling to the nurse.
Turned out they found some polyps, 3-4 small ones, which they removed. Supposedly, I’m really young for those, but again I have family history. They are going to make sure they arn’t cancerous. Luckily, it doesn’t look like I have any sort of intestinal disease. One of the med students sounded disappointed that I didn’t have Crone’s disease :/. Regardless if the polyps turn out benign, I should get another colonoscopy in 2-3 years.
All in all the pre-colonoscopy stuff was the worst. It kind of sucked having to give a presentation that afternoon in class though, while still semi-drugged and with a sore ass.

If you look at this part in a different context, it is quite hilarious.
