Good for you; know what you mean. I’m jazzed that my boy (10) is still really into sports and excels at them both. It’s going to be hard to resist the temptation to push him if and when he starts to waiver; esp. if he’s still one of the best among his peers. Just concluded his soccer season (rec) and he made all-stars and his team won and all that. We would be more interested in the local club except our nearest club sucks by all accounts and he’s actually better at baseball and this area is baseball crazy moreso than soccer. But as he usually does when he’s all wrapped up in one sport or the other he says he loves the one and hates the other; then changes his mind when the next season starts.

Holy shit. Someone I know from high school and… well, thanks to church, since we were little kids… has her own Facebook Fan page. In Spanish. In Colombia. With a good 63 fans. Since she doesn’t live in Colombia and doesn’t work there and other than the fact that she’s made a few public appearances in accordance with her job, there’s no reason these people would know who she is.

I had gum surgery, and a wisdom tooth removed. I have been putting this off for a very long time. The gum surgery really wasn’t bad at all, not much worse than a normal deep-cleaning. The wisdom tooth extraction was awful. I’ll spare you the details, and I’ll just say that if a dentist recommends you get wisdom teeth removed (like mine did, oh, 20 years ago), do it then, because its easier. Waiting 20 years just means the removal is harder and therefore more traumatic.
I am now off to the pharmacy to pick up the stronger painkillers the dentist called in for me. Ibuprofen is not enough!

Jojo, sorry your recovery’s lousy. Mine was, too. If the new painkillers don’t work, try clove oil. It’s like magic in your mouth.
They only gave you ibuprofen? That is crazy! I don’t remember what they gave me when I had my 4 impacted wisdom teeth out, but it kept me mostly unconscious for about 36 hours.

He switched me to tylenol with codeine. Its not really any better to be honest. Good for about 2 hours after taking it, then it wears off and the last two hours before I can take the next dose is agony. I’m somewhat restricted in the painkillers I can take because I’m nursing a baby. The codeine definitely helped him sleep a lot longer last night! I’m going to try a teabag now - don’t have the energy to go out and buy clove oil, but I will hold it in reserve. Thanks for the recommendation Leah.

The problem with Tylenol with Codeine is that there’s not enough codeine in it to be effective, and there’s too much Tylenol in it which can fuck up your liver so you can’t take too much of it. Get your Dr to give you something stronger.

teledyne and I went to Reno for to celebrate two years together. We stayed at the Sands, and when we signed up for the Player’s Club, I entered my email address into a raffle for a free laptop.
I won.
This post is useless without specs.
Congratulations!

I’ll post specs when I get the darned thing. :) And thanks! I have pretty good luck with raffles.

My Dad’s birthday is on January 7th. On that day, he will hit the 70th anniversary of the day he was born.
Guess what we’re going to do for his birthday?
I’m thinking that he and I are gonna make a little trip up north to a little town called Pasadena, and he and I, together, are gonna watch ourselves a little football game.

That sounds like a future event. This thread is about interesting things that have happened. But congrats on doing stuff with your Dad and all.

I once wrote a short story about how certain people warp the probability field that surrounds us all: Some were especially lucky and others vice versa.
Maybe I was on to something.
Congrats! :)

Hey! It’s not that little. Hope you already have tickets!
Yesterday was the last day of my photography class in school and the teacher let me know I wasn’t actually enrolled and had I been attending this 3 credit hour class for the fun of it? Then he let me know it’s too bad I wasn’t enrolled because I’d be getting an A (which would nicely offset the B- I’m getting in another class).
So I’ll be spending the Christmas vacation trying to track down the three people in different departments that have to sign special paperwork that says yes I actually wasn’t auditing this class and I DO want a grade and to get credit for my work. Of course one of the three people is my teacher who left to Puerto Rico straight from class and wasn’t sure when he’d be back.
Whoa. How the hell does that happen? And why didn’t they tell you sooner?
