Anders, that sucks. What a rotten night. Glad you made it home.

Thanks everyone…I finally figured out how to describe the sensation. If you’ve played Infamous, imagine what Cole must feel like with current surging through his body. I feel like he must have, but only from the waist down.

It beats the hell outa pain. I’m feeling better about it as I get used to it!

Jesus, you really are turning into a cyborg! Best of luck to you.

Don’t you have any space heaters? Every home should have them.

Electricity is so cheap in my home town we keep our gas heaters at a low temperature and just heat whatever room is getting the most traffic with a space heater. Keeps the bills low.

I do this as well, that, and the fire place is nice for keeping me warm. Nothing like waking up cold in the middle of the night and throwing a log or two on the fire and falling back to a nice toasty sleep. :)

Good thing you’re well versed in fire safety!

I take it you’re not supposed to sleep next to a fire place?

Going to sleep next to an active fire in your own house? I wouldn’t be able to do that, no way. :)

At least you’d know pretty quickly something was wrong being surrounded by fire and all.

Hey, at least he got to meet the Swedish women’s national ice hockey team. I wouldn’t mind being delayed by that.

A fireplace is a very safe fire. You don’t have to watch it, if you have it set up anywhere near correctly.

Nicely done, sir.

Yeah, actually, our apartment building stopped buy with some space heaters for us to have for the night.

This – we had to have the fireplace going all night, because it was the only source of heat in the house when I was growing up. We eventually replaced it with a wood stove, but that thing also ran all night in the winter time.

As long as the fire grate is closed and you’re not throwing young fresh logs on it, it will be fine. It’s young logs that are full of sap that spit out embers, and if you have the fire grate open, they’ll leave holes in your carpet :P

Well, my floors are hardwood, I have a very dense fire grate, and for safety sake I keep the flu(flue?) all the way open. The logs I use are aged, and I belive they are oak or something. I also have a carbon monoxide detector in trhe room because I’m a weirdo like that. :)

I just changed the battery in my car. Not so interesting in itself, but the fact that it is -20c (-4f) outside made it an interesting experience. The cold period totally killed my battery, completely dead. Thanks to the wonder of a red hot oven and good single malt i can now feel my fingers again.

Hey, if sleeping next to an open fire works for you, that’s great. No way my wife or I could do that - well, I maybe could but my wife has a fire phobia and there is NO WAY. :) She won’t leave the house with the stove on.

For work I have to setup a VPN server in the US. I tested it by logging in to pandora for the first time. I spent the next 30 minutes in the fetal position, wondering about what else us non US internet users are missing out on…
(Unless someone knows of a similar service that isn’t restricted to the US)

I’m afraid of going to hulu in case I get an epileptic fit or something…

On the plus side - I have uncapped internet but it’s limited to 384KB/s…

You won’t if you’re at 384k.

Stealth bombers have flown over my house three times in a week. I think that’s interesting, if not a little terrifying.
