Actual workplace conversation:

Payroll person: Can you help me with my computer
Steve: Sure, what’s the problem?
Payroll person: Ever since you put that shortcut on Jane’s computer my system has been really slow
Steve: Oh really? What did you have for lunch?
Payroll person: Taco Bell. What does that have to do with anything?
Steve: Exactly

It is a wonder we get paid every two weeks.

I cleared a patch of land on a nature reserve for my new apiary, got a bunch of wood from a recycling place to make some new hive stands, planted some onions and finally popped the lid on the hive to see how they’ve been doing since winter. They’re looking good, my plan to try and raise a new colony or two progresses full speed ahead.

You are now officially “krayzbee”. That is all.

He does, thanks for the suggestion! I ordered it for him. He’s also getting an iPad from me, a PSP from his work, and a 3-D taco cake delivered to his hospital room (he turns 30 tomorrow) from my mom. I’m starting to think he planned this for attention, electronics and baked goods.

Turns out he needs more surgery than originally anticipated and maybe a metal rod in his leg. Oh and the driver, she blew a .17 and was smiling in her mug shots. Classy.

Leah, that sucks. Your bro was really unlucky. Or really lucky, depending on how you look at it. I hope he recovers soon and I’m glad it was not any worse.

Gourmand, I hope the police charge the driver with attempting to flee the scene of an accident. I’m glad you’re intact also.

Enidigm, I hope you find your camera. At some point, they stopped making signature required deliveries. If I were a thief, I would just follow the UPS/FedEx trucks around.

Brendan, I’m glad you found your cat. We found our cat’s broken, bright pink collar on the side of the road last week about 50 yards from the house, sans cat. Whatever happened, no one even bothered to call the number on her tag. When I got that bright pink collar for the gray cat, the girlfriend asked me why, and I had said “So that people can see it.” Well, we saw it.

Finally found out when I get to start working. Come January, I’ll be moving to New York and starting my first real job. Assuming I don’t botch the whole graduating/passing the bar thing.

Congrats!

Good luck! NYC is a great place.

Today, I slept until 11:30. I’ve also potentially broken a congestion sickness that should have had me bedridden (But since i’m one of those crazy kids I went out and did things instead), and can finally breathe through my nose now!

Hopefully this also means the end of the 5 month sickness I"ve had as well. Who knew antibiotics actually can help?

When I get to hang out with David Attenborough for a week I’ll claim it as a title.

I had my last lectures of my University life today. Four years (it took me six due to medical problems) of university, lectures, assignments, research, and tutorials are all over. I have one month to catch up on it all and then I’m into the exams which will decide the rest of my life.

And I’m dreading it. For all of my adult life, I’ve been in university, and living at home with my family because it’s cheaper and close to the uni. Now in a little over a month and a half I have to go out to the big bad world and get a job, a proper adult job, not one that provides beer and game money. And I’m about the age to start looking at pensions. So it’s a job and pensions.

So this job that pays for my pension isn’t going to be in my home town. I’ve been told that I’ll be lucky to get a marketing job in Dublin and I’ll probably have to go to London. However if any of you gaming industry people are looking for a community manager with zero experience let me know. That’d be my dream job at the moment.

Seattle has left a positive impression on me. I might like to live here.

Seattle residents… how’re the schools round here?

Seattle people, you all need to consider very carefully how you respond to that.

Did I miss a small window of good weather or something?

Check this:

He must have been here that day last week where it set a record and was 70 and sunny.

The next day it was 48 and raining. ;-)

My roommate was cursing up a storm in the kitchen a short while ago so I went to investigate. He was sharpening a knife because wanted to slice some cheese. He was using something like this:

We had a nice conversation after that about the different types of knives, their uses, and how that wasn’t a good “general purpose” knife.

:-)

Good weather is overrated. Good people is underrated.

No, it really isn’t. You just need to live somewhere grey, cold, wet and miserable for a while to realize this.

We haven’t had a Summer here this year and I’m anticipating six months of drizzle.

Shit. Is. Not. Cash.

Sorry, don’t you live in Cape Town?

You’re not allowed to complain about the weather. Leave that to Scandinavians and perhaps people from Seattle… if you behave you can complain about the SA economy and crime, but not weather.

???

Where were you while the temperatures hit the mid and high 30’s about a month ago?

That stable weather only lasted for about two weeks when it usually lasts for about three months.
