After watching the Louis Theroux documentary the worst thing you could do is invite them over for coffee and really be pleasant and nice. Practically the whole congregation are family who have been brainwashed since they were babies. Those people feed on hatred.

Wait, how can your boss countermand your general’s order to give’em hell?

I take it your SO vetoed the idea? ;-)

Bringing home the clap puts a damper on any relationship.

So, budget cuts at the school that I was working for. I am out of a job yet again.

4 weeks of work, and now out on the street again.

No, she was in favor of it. The potential employer vetoed me. :(

Ouch, that sucks :( Sorry to hear it.

I find out in a few hours whether or not I still have a job so I may be right there with you!

So sorry for you’re brother Leah. I just got back from my sister’s 30th birthday and who has a 3 m.o. baby. Fortunately she hasn’t had anything like that happen aside from a cumbersome pregnancy.

Well, good news and great news regarding my missing camera! Amazon was extremely helpful when i mentioned that it had not arrived, and provided me with the same new camera at no charge, and had it 2 day shipped to my office. To my great surprise when i came home today the maids left an Amazon sized brown box on the kitchen countertop clearly labelled “Saturday Delivery”. It really had been lost, and not stolen, after all. Thanks to Amazon i now have a handful of Hill Country flower shots that i took on the way home today.

Thanks, Enidigm. He’s doing much, much better now. His leg is out of danger for amputation and he’s moving to a rehab facility. He’ll live there til he can take 20 unassisted steps. Right now he can sit in a chair but only with a lot of drugs. He has a long way to go but we’re just so happy that he gets to keep his leg.

To top off my awesome week, I got fired today. Drinks tomorrow night!

I just submitted my apprenticeship papers, I have worked over 1260 hours in slightly more than 5 months, that’s less than half the usual time apparently. Can’t wait for that pay raise!

I while back I tried to enter a ‘event’ whereby 10 people would spend 30 days on a remote island with nothing more than what they could fit in a 5 liter dry bag.

Well, it’s started and you can follow it all here

Aren’t there any black people in South Africa?

Hard to believe no one packed a gun. Then you don’t need to pack rice, you have everyone else’s rice.

I just realized today that my final project is not in fact due at the end of May, but is due at the end of April.

Fuck.

Damn! This is the one you JUST got? The one you told us about interviewing for and were all excited about? That really sucks. What kind of school was it? Do you teach high school? What subject? I’m sure you’ve said all this elsewhere, so I’m sorry for having to ask.

You and Gary must come to the Mint for the Qt3 WonderCon meetup!

They’re smart enough to stay off islands where all you have is what you can fit in a bag.

Well, my finished basement was flooded this week–where my PC was located, among lots of other stuff. You may have seen some of the pics and video coming out of RI & Mass this week.
Now that the water is out and has finally stopped seeping in, I’ve ripped out the carpeting and started cutting out saturated drywall and insulation.

Oh, and flood insurance doesn’t cover “ground water” flooding… unless you have a sump pump that failed. I don’t.

I’m a fish out of water w/out my basement as I practically lived down there: PC, home theater, gym…my passions.

Other than that, nothing interesting going on here…

Today I went to a viewing for a friend from college who died last week at age 43. He was a larger than life character – known as the social director of our floor at the dorm – and I’ll admit I was kind of proud when this really popular college sophomore pulled out his Dungeons & Dragons books & invited me, the typical high school nerd & college freshman, to play with his group Sunday nights.

I went to his wedding about 10 years ago, & although we were in the same geographical area, we just lost contact. Strangely, a lot of his high school friends – who I only recognized vaguely – had also been out of contact with him for a while. I guess he suffered a traumatic brain injury from an accident a few years ago, and died fairly suddenly from some complication related to that. They still aren’t sure what happened.

Jpinard, I know you were in Mosher-Jordan 5th floor in the '86-'88 time frame, although I think you lived on that all guy’s wing, which was cool & all, if you were into guys. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Not sure if you knew Tad, but the guy was Qt3 material to the core, & his death makes me reflective & hopefully more appreciative of friends & communities like this. I’m ambivalent if anything carries on after death, but if there is something, I hope there’s an otherworldy D&D group that could use a max/minning thief/mage. Condolences to your family & friends, & here’s a toast to you, Tad.

Guildboss, you live on a flood plain? I’m assuming so, since you have flood insurance. I had no idea they wouldn’t cover any and all floods. What they hell is the difference between it coming through the ground and coming over land?

Sidd, I’m sorry for your loss. Sounds like a great guy to be so memorable these years later. I’m glad it’s given you some perspective on other things, though.
