He was at fault 100%. Good amount of damage since he gunned it. I think the fault was obvious since there was enough room between us: his back left corner hit my front right (he gunned it while trying to switch into the lane to our right).

I dunno about Americstan, but around here it’s illegal to back up in an intersection. It’s not really “rear-ending” if the following car was stopped.
My brother-in-law’s house was destroyed by the tornado that hit Albertville, AL. Technically, it knocked a huge pecan tree onto the house. Either way, it’s totalled and will have to be bulldozed and rebuilt. Luckily no one was hurt. My mother-in-law lives next door and all her trees fell over too, but none damaged the house. Pretty lousy situation, obviously.

Wow, that’s terrible. Everyone’s okay though, hopefully?

Robert, I’m so sorry. Glad no one was hurt, but what a tragedy.
AFAIK, no one in Albertville was killed. If you google some pics, that’s pretty amazing. And no one in my family was actually hurt, physically. Emotionally, they’re in shock, obviously.
In one of those odd little coincidences in life, my mother was the assistant who wheeled my best friend’s father to an operating room for surgery, and neither of them knew it (they’ve never met before). It wasn’t until after I’d heard that his dad was headed into surgery that I wondered if my mother was working there that day, and after calling her up it turns out she was and she remembered chatting with him. And now that everyone knows, she went up to his room afterward and had a good laugh with him about it.

Wow, Robert! Glad everyone is safe.
Hopefully they’re well-insured?
I don’t know, but I know they have home insurance, so I would assume they’ll get the money to rebuild. Of course, it’s the stuff that can’t be replaced that is the issue in these cases.
Robert, that’s really awful. At least the things are just that: things. If they’re okay and unhurt then that’s what’s most important.
Well, as of today I can officially say that I am working on the PS3/Xbox 360 versions of The Sims 3 (EA finally announced it).
YAY! This is great news. I’ve been wanting to play this since I tried it out at Shoot Club, but my PC is too anemic to play it (I assume–I keep meaning to upgrade, but whenever I think about what’s in there I realize I’d have to replace everything but the dvd burner and just the idea of figuring out what to buy makes me shudder).
So, happy news. And congrats on the work.

OH DAMN! There’s going to be a 360 version of it?! WOOOOOOOO.
Well if we’re going that way, I’m working on FEAR 3. WB finally announced it. And I’ve got to say: The AIs in my game can beat the shit out of the AIs in your game and leave the walls spattered with their entrails.
But if there were a FEAR Sims expansion, I would totally buy it.
At work today, a 94 year old guy walked in from the street. Clearly very senile, he demanded we call the cops because a woman (a caregiver from his nursing home) was chasing him and he wanted to go home. He managed to visit us a total of four times before a taxi showed up to drive him “home”, though he was rather unimpressed by our company which didn’t even have a phone. The caregiver thanked us for being cool about the whole thing. She was rather cute.

In the last two weeks I’ve drank 48 cans of Coke Zero, when my normal soda consumption is 1/4 of that. I don’t know why, other then that it was on sale so I bought much more then I normally do. I think I need to take a break from soda for a while.
;-)
That’s not even four cans a day! A real soda addiction is when you’re drinking three two-liters of Coke Zero a day for months on end. Been there, done that.
I don’t doubt it; our Sims don’t care about petty AI – you tell them what to do. It’s like a virtual pet – ignore it and it suffers. Welcome to The Sims. 3.
But holy fuck I can’t wait to play the next FEAR. Will there still be the same solid multiplayer? I’m a FEAR MP nut.
