I closed on my first house on the 25th. Right now it’s just a lot of moving and cleaning.
I’ll finally be able to mount my surround sound speakers, not to mention actually use them. I had some neighbors at my apartment that would pound on my door at the first sound of any bass.
He eats discusting animals (like camel spiders) on the Discovery Channel et. al.

I don’t even remember if I mentioned this, there’s been so much shit going on. Yeah, my uncle lost the cancer battle…but my father-in-law might be winning.
Doctors in just removed a cancerous lung from his chest–and somehow, the cancer hadn’t metastasized. The surgery went, in the doctor’s words, perfectly.
Huge weight off my shoulders, and massive relief to my wife. Still too early to tell how well he’ll recover (the guy’s like 77) but he’s very active and young for his age so he has a good chance of at least a few more years.

I missed my flight from Sacramento to LA yesterday by 2 minutes…I arrived at 2:42. Due to delays and such, I was not able to get on a plane until 7:45 PM. That was a sucky day.
Graduated. Meryl Streep was there. The undergraduate that delivered the address in Latin was amazing–she’d memorized it all and it was not short. It was a blast seeing what props every school had. I am now very tired, but not too tired to go out for steak.

Good to hear Acid. My mother had the same operation last year with chemo follow up. She has recovered 100% and apart from some coughing (which will go away in time apparently) and some shortness of breath she is her old self again. Cancer treatment is very good these days. The important part is that he remains active and pushes himself a little bit to train up the remaining lung to take over some function. Has he been given a training program to follow?

I had one of those days where everything felt so intense, like I was living in Technicolor. I won’t bore you with the details of my work life but in the course of a 12 hour day at the office I have never felt such a heady mix of creativity, camaraderie, hilarity, exhaustion, frustration and grief. I can’t stop my mind from running in overdrive, even though I’m exhausted. It was wonderful and it was too much.
Five days with my dad for the Memorial Day weekend. This evening was “Sit down and watch this ‘Firefly’ show with me, you’ll love it” (success) and “Now I have my Madden franchise game, this should be easy…” (less than a success).
Hanging out with the old man and just chilling is weird. But pretty cool, actually.

I’m honestly not sure. I know he’ll keep active after he recovers, though, just because that’s the way he is. He’s an old fashioned, quiet, get-it-done guy. I’m sure the hospital will give him everything he needs, including a training regimen.
Thanks, Juste, for the kind words!
Saw “Fiddler on the Roof” tonight with Harvey Fierstein playing as the lead.
Meh.

Well, this was a hand-me-down from my parents, who didn’t want us dragging around their (at the time) only grandson in my wife’s old 1983 Accord piece of shit.
It has been expensive to maintain. But man, it is such a sweet ride when everything’s working.
Still haven’t heard back from any of the places I had interviews or what is up with my other applications.
I am never going to get a job… :(
Maybe they don’t like what they’re finding out about you on the internet.

Tomorrow I’m going to my gaming societies bbq. Already have 20 burgers and about 35 giant sausages bought. But the cool thing is before the BBQ, the bus is taking us to Prince August. They’re model makers for loads of different historical games, and they were the first people to get licensed to make Lord of the Rings metal and pewter models. We’re going on a tour around the factory and being shown how they do all their stuff. I’m quite looking forward to it.
You can check them out here http://www.princeaugust.ie/ They have some lovely stuff.
This was actually two weeks ago, but I hooked up with some old buddies from the old regional music scene I was active in (as comic relief and a sometimes lyricist and roadie). It’s just amazing to see people I haven’t seen in a decade or more getting together just like old times. The same lame jokes, the same outrageous stories, but now just about everyone’s got gray hair and most have spouses and children in tow. They even set up on the stage in this old grange hall we’d gotten kicked out of before (over 20 years ago) and played some songs. Few of the original lineups were intact so everyone improvised and it ended up being mostly cover songs. Some folks were in practice and still active while most weren’t so much. But everyone had a good time.
Man, we’re all getting old. I really didn’t sign on for that.
Some of my buds doing a cover if I Don’t Want To by the Blasters. That’s Paul Ivey on lead guitar and vocals. He’s still doing music with a band called The Ruse. Not sure if it’s public access or not but what the hell.

You must roll your eyes when you’re walking through the company parking lot :)
Honestly, I do. But everyone makes their own choices in life so whatever. :)
I’m off to the hospital to have my gallbladder removed. Yes, getting old does indeed suck. Should be routine (knock on wood).
