As Bahimiron and I got out of Target today and closed the car doors, the skies opened up in torrential downpours the like of which I have never seen. We thought it was cool until on the way home there was intense traffic since at every dip in the road, everything was COMPLETELY FLOODED.

We have a Honda Fit. It’s very low to the ground. At times the water was up over half the hood. Thankfully the car is fucking awesome and we never stalled out once, even though we saw bunches of cars that were. But what a god damn hellish ride home.

Shame you didn’t get pictures, that would have been scary looking!

You guys were really lucky, and beat the odds. Next time y’all should really find alternate routes or sit it out.

Sitting it out wouldn’t have done any good unless we wanted to find a hotel to stay at overnight. When these things flood they tend to stay flooded 24+ hours and the flooding happened in, oh. I’d say ten minutes, that’s how hard it was raining. The route we took was the one with the least dips, on a main road with the best drainage. And it was still a nightmare.

You guys apparently have Porbeagle in your waters.

Could it have been one of those?

Storm chasing early tomorrow into Kansas and maybe even Nebraska if I get there early enough… after that I may just explore for a bit and go into some random surrounding state.

I hit an empty Stabucks about 30 minutes before they closed. The two employees were busy bitching about one of their co-workers and didn’t see me come in. Since Starbucks store policy is that happiness is mandatory, they were kind of freaked out that I overheard them. Strangely, they were not amused when I jokingly said that if the coffee wasn’t good, I would be writing a lengthy complaint letter.

If you plan on chasing as far north as Kansas City, I’ll be very surprised since I think our weather is supposed to be nice, but you should also swing by and say hello, you crazy person.

I probably won’t be going that far east, but you never know; storms maybe not on Monday, but perhaps on Tuesday.

. . . and the 924 was a Porsche. That didn’t keep people who knew better (men) from mocking the owners.

Heck, get it if you want it. As long as you’re having fun, more power to you.

So… didn’t get the position in Special Projects here at work. Am not incredibly broken up about it (they hired a new guy, also a veteran, which I can’t argue with in this job market) and the experience seems to have made me even more valued in my current department so looks like a net plus all around.

I put a cork floor in my bathroom. Pain in the ass but looks nice and is sort o’ squishy.

Oh, and I was playing around putting doodles on shirts and decided to do one everyday, so I actually ‘blog’ now… sorta @ www.shirtperday.com

You should submit some to Threadless!

I"m really digging those shirts. I Love the Ghoul 3 one. I might have to buy one.

As an aside, one of the few times I get my vengeance for people making fun of me mispronouncing all the Spanish names in California is when they attempt to pronounce some of Washington’s city names like Spokane. (My fiance called it, Spo-kan-e, and she was completely lost how to pronounce mukilteo)

Oh man, this is so true. I grew up in California, and lived on Calle del Arroyo. Then I went to college in Oregon and lived on Siskiyou Boulevard.

I always liked telling people how to pronounce Willamette. “It rhymes with damnit!”

Thanks Demon,

Athryn, I might throw some @ threadless after the year o’ shirts ends. I going to print a few (like 10) books of the designs after the year ends too…

I got my first lapdance ever from a escort service at this weekend’s bachelor party for a good old school friend of mine.

Was I supposed to be turned on? Because I was just sitting down, not really waiting my turn, watching the spectacle of it all, and then it’s “whoa pretty hot naked girl walking over to me smiling, oh shit, oh shit.”

Fake breasts that are done well feel a lot better than I thought they would.

I was finally offered a stipend for graduate school. It’s not a full stipend, but it’s some money and enough that my tuition and health insurance are waived. I’ll gladly take the lesser amount and start this year rather than hoping for a full stipend next year. I was also promised that I could upgrade to a full stipend as early as the spring if the department’s budget situation improves.

Hallelujah for both not having to continue my futile job hunt and knowing what I’ll be doing day-to-day come August.

Oh, and Tom was kind enough to unban me.

Congrats!
