Check this out, I did a poem for some online contest.

If I win, I can get a free Flip digital video camera. Video podcasts ahoy!
My poem is “The Snalrus” (which is an animal hybrid of a walrus and a snail).
Thanks.
I was interviewed for the German TV-station SWR about the royal wedding today:
Apparently they made me sound a lot more positive than I am (I refuse to watch it due to embarrassment).

Talisker,
Congratulations! That’s wonderful, wonderful news! Enjoy these days, because they won’t last forever. And, as nervous as you are going to be, try to relax and just let the love pour from you.
Also, one additional note:
Those days are over. And no, I’m not talking about the dogs or the yogurt.

Good thing you pointed that out. I was about to say that kids love dogs and yoghurt and dogs and yoghurt love kids.
As noted I now have a spanking new BMW 320D for 5 days. Drove it 200 miles today… I want one!

So when do they start raising troops and raiding across the Baltic?

I thought you loved princesses. Personally the damn wedding and the endless media exposure has turned me from not caring about the monarchy into a full-blown republican.
Ran a 10K mud run at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base here today.
I didn’t really train too much leading up to it since it was just a for-fun run I was doing with a friend and his wife and neither of them were training up too hard since they’ve got two young kids. I stayed with them through the first 5 miles and then broke off and did the last one myself ahead of them.
I came in at 1 hour 24 minutes and 837th overall (out of 5,500 or so) which isn’t too shabby considering how little we were pushing it (prior to the run or during the first 5 miles of the run while I was with them). Next year we plan on doing it again with more people and splitting up into male/female teams so the dudes can go for a sub-one-hour time.
All in all the race was way easier than I was expecting, and tons of fun.
I got choked by Demian Maia, woo!

Did you get his autograph in mansweat?

So you think a miracle adoption baby will get you out of a vampire game eh?
Not true – I got up at 9am yesterday! I also got up at 1:30am, 3:15am, 5:20am, 6:30am, and 7:40am. But still!
If there’s one running at a pace of one turn per week, count me in!

Catchin’ up on the thread, and whoa! Congratulations, Talisker.
Also, Kraaze is not lying about the sleeping-baby-on-your-chest thing. Best feeling ever.

Congrats on the baby and all, but aren’t you worried about knowing nothing about the family and its history?

Congratulations Talisker. Patience is a virtue, and it is splendid to see that it brought with it a welcome addition to the family.
Only interesting thing for me that has happened recently is I went on a mine tour. I have been to a few mining towns now, but never really knew what happened underneath the layers of rock. Needless to say, it was quite the experience. And while I’m down deep underground (well, only 36 metres, but still…) another light went off in my head (besides the one on my head). Mining could be the right career for me to get into as a career change. The lure of making a cool $130,000 per year, plus numeous other benefits (at the expense of long days) is a strong one. Now I wish I had ignored my teachers at school, skipped uni and took up a trade instead.
Plus, there is some friggin awesome machinery down there to play with. And did I mention explosives too? Yeah… Could be awesome.
Yeah, a proper republican ought to be much more decisive. The princess may be nice and educated and support charities, but that’s just opium for the proletariat! Overprivileged monarchs are the first up against the wall when the revolution comes!

Late to the party as usual. Huge 'grats to Talisker and family, it’s definitely dusty in here too.
I have nothing interesting to report otherwise.
I’ve had the BMW 320d for two days now… I want one :-(
Heck, I envy you just for getting to drive one around for a few days!

Just got the results from my exams a day early. Which is great stuff, as now I don’t have to spend all night worrying about what it might have been. So I am now qualified, kind of, I’m a graduand for the next few months.
Got a 2.1, fucking delighted. Will soon have B.Comm after my name.
