You could not assume that my comments were directed at you rather than the car itself, you know?!
Indeed
(EDIT: In all seriousness, no, French cars aren’t really that bad. Not any more anyway. But they still often have these little details that value funkiness way higher than practicality. Rather charming, really.)
While no expert on other French cars isn’t that mostly Citroen?
From that weird suspension and up. Peugeot is always blamed for being dull (Top Gear hates them… but loves my little Clio… as much as these guys can love a rather run of the mill small car). My Clio has no funkiness, it’s rather mundane. The weirdest thing is the analog aux for the stereo…
Had a change to an on-site interview from Wednesday to Monday. Am extremely nervous about the whole thing, cause I really want this job at this company (for various reasons), know I need to convince one person who’s on the fence (and one of two of the most important people to convince), and after 10 months of unemployment am slightly on the side of desperation. So having to wait longer is just killer. I just want the day to be here already so I can get it done.
So in the middle of all that, I got out today to go to my brother’s pool for a swim and before I could get out of the cul-de-sac saw two dogs, one big one small, angling towards me. Guess they got out of some yard and they both belong to the same owner, so called the number on the tags and am keeping them in the backyard and alternatively in the kitchen since it’s so hot outside. Definitely didn’t want them wandering around.

They’re very nice, well-behaved dogs too. They don’t bark, don’t bite, and don’t jump on people–just want to hang around.

Despite my feelings to the contrary it seems the job interview I had yesterday went well as I got a call this morning informing me they’re putting an offer together. Hopefully I’ll have it by the end of the week!
Should I accept this position (and I have every intention of doing so) my transition out of the games industry will be complete. I spent the last ten years developing games and I loved (most of) it. However this city is where I want to live and the options in the game industry here are nearly non-existent. I partly took my previous job as means of transitioning out of games as it gave me experience in areas that are much more marketable in this city. That seems to have worked. So long games, perhaps I’ll make you on my own time!
Good for you, a life of less stress and more money awaits!
I’m glad he’s going where he wants to but your statement is arguable. :) There are a lot of jobs that are way more stressful than making games. And as for money, well, that depends on where you work.
There certainly are more stressful jobs but I think, on average, there is considerably more money to be made outside the games industry.
Sure there might be a handful of high end game companies that will pay out fat sacks of cash but comparing the top 5% of earners in the games industry to their average counterpart outside isn’t exactly a fair comparison. The average salary is lower in the games industry than outside even though outliers on both sides will always exist.
Sure, I agree and I qualified my statement with “it depends”. I know a lot of games industry jobs pay pretty badly.
So, we have a couple wiener dogs that sleep in the laundry room that shares a wall with my bedroom. Tonight I’m working on some website stuff, listening to the new Wolf Parade album softly on my computer. Pretty soon I hear one of the dogs whining pretty badly. I thought maybe the off-key, dissonance of Wolf Parade’s sound might be bothering the dogs, so I turn the music off. But the dog keeps whining loudly. After about 5 minutes it didn’t seem like the music was the problem, so I go to the next room to check if they needed a potty break or something. But that wasn’t it either.
When I open the door and turn on the light, I see the problem immediately. The larger of the two dachshunds, Benji, had apparently been trying to bed down in a bathrobe that was on the floor. Only, he must have become confused, trying to exit through one of the arms. When I finally check on him, only his head is sticking out of the sleeve. The rest of his body is wedged tightly inside the sleeve, trapping him like a long, skinny strait jacket.
In retrospect, I should have snapped a picture, because he looked very funny, but instead I helped him out strait away. He was wedged in so tightly that I was worried I’d need to cut him out, but a few good shakes and he came free. He was still kinda freaked out, though, so I had to spend a few more minutes with him to calm him down. But he’s finally gone back to bed!

Swung by the local Dollar General to pick up an afternoon soda, and they had Mello Yello in the cooler. WTF? I didn’t even know they still made that stuff.
So now I’m drinkin’ Mello Yellow like it’s 1989.
Mello Yello?! That shit is so retro AND southern at the same time. Enjoy the white trashness. ;)

You want white trashiness? I’m drinking it out of the Sonic cup for the vanilla Coke I had this morning.
Don’t judge me… there was still ice in it!
Dude, you just crossed some line, somewhere.
It’s been regional for a while, but Coke changed the packaging and is trying to get it national again.

I’ve never thought of Mello Yello as being retro…I was drinking that in high school 2000ish.
I’ve been an IT recruiter now for just under a month and I’ve had TWO job placements this week. I’m very excited to be going into something new like this and being successful… sooooo, anyone need a job in the Santa Ana, New Jersey, or Atlanta area?
