Not if she creates a thread asking whether she should be taking pills.

You can pull your dog out of the way and behind you while simultaneously kicking the other dog away.

Haha, thanks, guys! She’s not much of a geek, though, so I doubt she’d be posting on Qt3 anytime soon (or at all).

Small dogs can’t defend themselves against large dogs; you have to do it for them. And as mentioned upthread, if your dog is close to you, it’s much much easier for you to put the dog behind you and attack the attacking dog. Lastly, if your dog is walking way out in front and a much larger dog attacks your dog, your dog will almost certainly have a broken back by the time you get to him.

No, that is not necessarily true. I know for a fact that a number of the QT3 women are not spurting out babies…

It doesn’t work like that.

Yeah, the birthening has past. She can join safely.

Congrats, man.

I dunno, man, my biological clock went off last month…

Woohoo! Welcome to the recently engaged and no date set club!

Not quite as exciting as getting engaged, but I saw my first Google street-view car today:

I spent 4 sweltering days in the midst of the tropical jungle in my army reserve unit. Hooray for disorganized infantry battalions, monsoon rains, insects the size of my fists and canned tuna.

One of my colleagues saw the Google Streetview tricycle yesterday…

It’s really easy to suppress the biological clock. I have successfully done it for 10 years (I’m good at hitting the snooze button).

Here’s how

  • Think about how much you make
  • Think about how much you owe in student loans
  • Think about the economy and job market
  • Think about how much time you don’t have now
  • Day care is 100-200$ / week

Is it gone yet?

That’s cute. You definitely don’t have any kids.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility. The preschool my daughter was attending prior to kindergarten was 600.00 a month, so that’s a little more than he quoted.

I think Karen was just a little behind inflation. The proper figure would be 150-250 nowadays, possibly more in states with huge cost of living.

A friend of mine here in Seattle was paying $1400 a month for child care, and she was only using it 3 times a week instead of the normal 5.

$1,400 a month? FFS, that’s a mortgage payment. It must quickly reach a point where it’s cheaper to just stay home.

It’s stuff like that that causes me to doubt people who tell me, “Oh having kids isn’t expensive! People exaggerate.” Uh huh.

That’s pretty much the point I am at. I do QA. I don’t get paid a lot, and long hours are expected. Neither one works with having a kid. When she’s old enough I’m going to try to figure out work I can do from home so I can have some income coming in without it immediately flowing back out into daycare.

Yeah, at that kind of money it almost sounds like, “I’m going to work so I can afford to put my kid into daycare so I can go to work”. Net zero.
