Terriers (FX)

Damn fine end to the season, I hope there is a season 2, but if not, the ending was very acceptable.

Yeah that’s how you wrap up a season when you don’t know if there will be another one. So well done. I sent an email last week but I think I’ll send another.

Hmmm, I didn’t get that impression. Where did you get that from? I got the impression that he ran over a kid or harmed a kid on a drinking binge with his buddy or something. I thought that that shot of him in the pamphlet with all of the boys was after the fact, at some kind of place he set up to help other boys. I hope I’m right, if he did do what you are thinking I’m far less happier with Hank letting him off (relatively) easy.

It was implied he built the children’s hospital in Mexico for easy access to victims to molest. We know there were a bunch of photos, Neal McDonough’s character was in the photos and they were shocking to anyone who saw them. It was homemade child pornography.

And Hank didn’t let him off the hook.

Caught up on this show finally. I’m sad that it is over and even sadder that it might not come back.

There’s a nice wrap up of the season and a good break down of what made it so special in comparison to most other cop shows…

Sadly, they only have episodes 8 thru 12 on the fx site and hulu, with 8 set to expire when 13 comes available. :( I can’t even get people to watch it legally… I have to encourage torrenting.

Ick, I guess you guys are right. If that is what he was up to then, yeah, while Hank is promising to go after him at some point with the show possibly going away I think he let him off easy – I want to see him pay.

I only got to see the last 4. From now on, every FX drama goes on Series record.

Seriously, I’m bummed that I don’t get to watch new episodes of this show.

You haven’t been watching Nikita, where he is also exactly the same guy. I’m pretty sure at this point that he’s leveraging his haircut.

I also will be doing this, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that it’s going to be kind of a hard sell for Rocky: The Series (or so they’re pitching it - it’s about an old ass boxer and it’s called Lights Out) in January. I’ll give it a shot, though.

Well…fuck…

FX Cancels ‘Terriers’ After One Season

That’s unfortunate. Pretty damned inevitable, considering the raft of marketing problems around it, but sad nonetheless. I hope that The Shield crew and Scruffy and Cajun Guy from True Blood come out of this okay. I really enjoyed this series a lot. It was at least as good as Justified, and I have to think that maybe if it had been sent out in a more appropriate time for a cable series (January) it might have stood a better shot. Or been titled something that makes even an infinitesimal amount of sense.

I am seething with anger and overflowing with sorrow.

Rather than cancel it, I wish they would just re-title the show and run it as new in January or something.

I suppose now I’ll just have to wait for the DVD release, which hopefully they won’t half-ass and it will be full of bonuses, extras and commentary.

A lovely sentiment, but sadly impossible for FX. FX doesn’t have the marketing budget to launch more than one show at a time, and they’re committed to Totally Punching Guy Show for January at this point.

I’m more hopeful, however, that the executives at the network recognize the quality of the show and give the creative team behind it another shot with a different premise, and hopefully with better titling and marketing this time. The marketing problems here weren’t solely on FX - they were running “three minute replays” of each episode in the series all the way through, which is a fairly significant thing to do, and they advertised it pretty thoroughly during Justified’s run. Sometimes people just don’t like good ideas, and sometimes things get the worst of all possible names.

Seriously - if they’d called it “We Rape Babies” it would have gotten more viewers, albeit ones of a decidedly unsavory demographic.

I will miss this show.

There have been plenty of shows with flawed but likable characters as the good guys. What set this show apart was that every bad or reckless decision the good guys made, there was a consequence.

Well fuck.

The best thing about the way it ended… Britt and Katie being broken up, Hank selling the house, etc… If the show were to get saved somehow, like if another network picked it up (though unlikely, since it was a Fox production for a Fox network) they don’t really need to have saved sets or anything. Just the truck maybe.

Sad but expected, due to the ratings.

I guess everyone saw this coming but it is a damn shame. Given how disappointed I’ve been with other shows I watch it was a very pleasant surprise to stumble across Terriers.
