Feels like a racing game should call their future plans something other than a roadmap.
Apparently their gold edition early access is not going well for their online-only game where a connection is required to the server even for offline racing.

I watched some PS5 performance mode gameplay and wow, this is not good. At times it looked worse than 2010’s Hot Pursuit. And framerate drops all over.
Well, this is KT Racing, the folks who did WRC 15 through 10 through WRC Generations. I always felt like they had performance issues in all the ones I tried. I was never sure what exactly, it just never felt smooth to play.
Oh, wow, I just realized these are the devs of that off-brand rally campaign game I was digging into after giving up on Electronic Arts’ Electronic Arts Does Rally Racing Like Only Electronic Arts Can Do It. I think that was the name? It’s got an active thread with a bunch of y’all who are far more patient than me! So I ended up digging KT Racing’s weird off-brand rally racing campaign for all its finicky and detailed progression, and also pretty much enjoying the relatively lo-fi engine for being much smoother for me than EA’s graphics boondoggle (in a racing game, I care much more about framerate and “feel” than graphics).
And sadly, as much as I enjoyed the idiosyncracies of their WRC games, I can’t imagine they’re the kind of team to craft the open world required for a Test Drive game. This is the sort of project that seems like it might have been doomed from the start by picking the wrong devs. : (
Still, I can’t very well NOT try an open-world driving game. September 12 marked on my calendar. Hopefully there’ll be a big fat Day One Patch waiting and KT Racing was able to rise to the occasion.
Still, no motorcycles? No player housing? What kind of Test Drive is this??

My son still enjoys WRC 10 more than EA’s WRC, so he’s with you on the rally front.
I’ll definitely wait to hear your impressions of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown before approaching it. Fingers crossed.
