There, this is about as sexy as I can make you without replacing you with Megan Fox.

Haha, thanks! I think something needs to be done about my brother’s messy desk in the background though. I don’t think the ladies will be into cereal bowls stacked on top of each other.

No, that actually works in your favor. Women love to know they’re needed.

You might want to try one with the light on so the room looks more bright and cheerful and less like “this is my lair. I probably will not dismember you here, but you never know.”

A messy room doesn’t turn off too many people. But a clean room turns off no one.

Clean the fucking room.

I recommend having someone take a picture of you outside. Your backdrop and lighting gives it a bit of a creepy vibe.

A cluttered room has infinitely more character than a clean one. It also indicates a person who has more interesting things to do with their time than clean.

Being a slob is “having character” now?

Putting things back in their original location is something that is taught in kindergarten. Did you pass kindergarten?

Thats why I make sure to take a dump in the middle of the room before inviting company over. It lets them know I have character.

Did you read the links I posted on here?

Don’t do direct eye contact…get some better lighting…outdoors maybe…Don’t smile…Get a dog.

Look out everyone… Pogo’s gonna confiscate your fruit cups.

No, see, it’s actually pretty simple.

When you’re done with something, you put it back. You can finish whatever bullshit internet argument you may be in, but if at any point you’re going back for a second bowl of cereal, do yourself a favor and take the first bowl and put it into that awesome invention us civilized people call “the sink.”

Dried milk sitting still in any living space is flat out nasty.

delirium the kerzain picture is fine, you look great, don’t let these guys nitpick you to death. If someone is going to snub you because they notice a cluttered desk in a picture, you arn’t going to dig them in real life.

Another suggestion for the current pic would be to crop it. That would care of the multiple empty bowls.

Outdoors is usually good because the lighting is bound to be better than many indoor locations when using a cheap-o digital camera. Regarding the OKC results and smiling, remember that a lot of the people on OKC are…uh…different? Unique? Interesting? What the hoi polloi like there may not always be the best advice. On the other hand, if the photo is being used on OKC, the expression “when in Rome…” comes to mind.

Not everyone likes or is comfortable around dogs, so you can put people off by including a pic featuring one. This is especially bad if you’re ‘borrowing’ the dog and don’t actually have one yourself. Even worse, though, is multiple pics with a dog or talking a lot about the dog in your profile. It gives the impression that you’re already in a relationship with something furry and four-legged. No one wants competition built-in. But if people don’t like dogs, a pic with one can also weed out those before they try to contact you.

I suspect most people do not have to concern themselves with weeding out who contacts them, though.

P.S. And I like dogs!

EDIT:

delerium cropped (as an example of what I meant):

And the version kerzain actually wanted to go with:

Ok I’ll bite, here are a few pictures I have. In fact they’re the only pictures I have that are reasonably useable, I’ll dump an example of the un-usable variety at the bottom (which btw was taken before I lost ~50 pounds). Should I use any of them, or are any of them good?

This is my wife, she wears the burka because she is very ugly. That’s the subtitle on facebook anyway.

Thanks!

The nitpicks are mostly valid (I’m certainly not sold on not smiling - as scrax said, if a girl is going to be turned off by me with a happy expression, well, I don’t think she’s going to be my type anyway). I agree that the lighting in that room is awful, which also makes me lean towards the B&W version out of the two. Sometime this week I’m going to go for a hike with my brother and we’ll find a nice scenic area and take some quality pictures outside. I appreciate the feedback, though, and I’ll post back when I get better pics.

Ned, that cropped picture looks a lot better. I think I’ll actually throw that one on there. QT3 - photoshopping so you don’t have to. Thanks, guys!!

I do love dogs, and plan to own one soon and wouldn’t want to be with a person who doesn’t like them, so I think I might go with the dog thing. I am planning to walk dogs for the local animal shelter, so I should be able to borrow some poor stray for a photo shoot.

My quick takes:

Pic 1: Group shot, not clear which one is you. It’s a cute photo but no good for a profile on a dating site.
Pic 2: Decent pic with a hint of a smile. Zylon will like the character of the kitchen!
Pic 3: Good if you want people to try to guess what’s going on, otherwise it has the same problem as #1 in that it’s a group shot but even worse as there aren’t even faces visible. Not usable.
Pic 4: Profile shots are usually not very good and the frame of your glasses hides your eye. I wouldn’t use it.

Get thee to a person with a camera! :)

You should get some good pics on the hike, especially if the weather is nice. Plus it has that whole manly outdoors thing happening (do people on OKC like or loathe that?)

IMO, pic 2 would work for a primary pic and #1 would be a good secondary pic, but lose 3 and 4. In pic 3, you can’t tell which one you are or even what’s going on. Pic 4 has bad lighting and the angle obscures your face.

You can probably come up with something better than pic 2, though. The hat looks fine, but people will want to see what’s hiding under there.

The OKC folks seem to like a pic of you doing some activity. So outdoor hiking/walking dog/whatever probably be fine.
