The La. Tech coach’s name is actually Sonny Dykes. Spike is his dad.

I saw today that another highly recruited QB prospect is going to transfer because its become clear that he isn’t going to get the job long-term where he initially signed. Is it just me, or is this becoming more common? Its always happened to some degree, of course, but it just seems like the top recruits are quicker to do it now then it used to be.
I bet it happens more often, there are more “viable” programs for players to go to now that there are more cable channels broadcasting games.
The USFs of the world were invisible just a few years ago.

The Heismann finalists have been announced:
Andrew Luck
Trent Richardson
Robert Griffin III
Montee Ball
Tyrann Mathieu
Kind of surprised not to see Barkely after the recent talk.

I think it will be a pretty close Heismann race. I think it should go to RG3 or the defensive guy.
Disappointed in the BCS. I think Alabama is probably better but the fact that they lost to the #1 team should automatically DQ them.
The Sugar bowl passing on higher ranked Boise State and KState is amusing, probably not to those teams though!
This system sucks. 8 team play off. Yes please.
LSU and Alabama are probably the only teams capable of beating each other.
Nah anything can happen in a given game. If Iowa State can knock off Oklahoma State, Oklahoma State has a chance to beat LSU. You can claim that Alabama has a better chance, but without playing that game we could never know.

Of course, since they seem dead set on not giving another team a chance to actually play them…
Once again Alabama has had its chance to beat LSU, it failed, so barring a playoff system they don’t deserve a second shot. If they beat LSU in a low scoring game why would they then deserve to be national champions?
San Diego State is going to the Big East? That makes perfect sense…
I’m already arming my East Coast Bias arguments for when they get over-seeded in the NCAA basketball tournament.

You do understand that LSU and Alabama didn’t get to decide for themselves who plays in the NC game, right?
Or are you talking about their OOC schedules this year? I’m confused by your argument, since LSU played 2 powerhouse teams this year and Bama played a traditional power that was having an incredible year until they imploded after the Sandusky thing.
So I don’t think your argument makes any sense at all.

Oh? They campaigned for this, just as the SEC has had other campaigns in the past, such as the time Florida crept past #2 Michigan in the polls because they campaigned against a rematch of Michigan against Ohio State for the BCS title game because Michigan lost to Ohio by three points earlier in the season (sound familiar - well, beyond that was an exciting game rather than a snoozefest). And if it means anything, I’m being consistent because I was all for Florida getting that opportunity. Anyway, it seems to me that the SEC gets what it wants.
So I don’t think your argument makes any sense at all.
And it makes sense to claim that only LSU and Alabama can beat each other rather than put it to the actual test? Your sense-o-meter needs re-calibrating.

SD State will only be in the “Big East” for football.
God, Arizona State is melting down. All sorts of really solid media reports that they hired June Junes out of SMU, and then a mother of all backlash from the alumni and boosters has ASU suddenly backing off.
