The best seductions IMHO (also assassinations) are ones with a caster who can use either Hellbind Heart or Charm spells in the following 1-on-1 battle. Toss a couple of those at the beginning of combat and your percentages go way up.

I actually prefer that the seduction/assassination fail. Id rather charm the commander which works MUCH better this way than trying to use it in a major army fight. If you snag him then the next message is about a combat occurring. Your new commander is fighting his old army. If they have no more leaders, they rout and you win he province. Plus you get to keep a new leader with all his equipment. the best thing of all is getting another players prophet giving you 2 prophets and him none (for awhile)

Hugin and Munin games

When turn 10 rolls around, I will switch quickhosting off so the game will run on the advertised schedule. I hope to keep the game on this schedule all the way until the end since they are such small games, but let me know if we need to extend it.

Does that second prophet spread your dominion or his?
I was under the impression the second prophet spread your foes dominion. He’s still a nice holy caster and all, but spreading my enemies dominion seems like a bad idea.

Need help in a diff game…

I am playing Hinnom. I have about 20 chariots and 12 Dawn Guards. I have a couple random leaders like air 2 mages and one of each of the big giants that eat people.

I need to fight Tien Chi. He has about 60 archers and 60 warriors of 5 seasons. They have a High Death Bless and no leaders of interest.

I have completed Research on Thaun 2, Evo 2, Conj 2 and COns 2 - Will have COn 4 in 3 turns.

I’ve tried a few test battles and the warriors of 5 seasons just eat my guys up. It looks like my Attack 10 chariots are doing very poorly against their Def 16 Warriors.

The dawn guards don’t do much better. Not really sure what to do. Any ideas?

Best block: no be there!

Go around them. Avoid battle if you’re going to lose. Raid his lands like crazy. Talk to other players and try to get them to go to war with him. Research some spells that will help defeat them while you’re playing Sugar Ray. Someone else can tell you which spells will work there.

What besides A2 do you have access to? I think lightning bolt works pretty well. Thunderstrike works better if you have boosters or communions. Does Gath have Astral/Air mages?

The standard counter to high Def is missiles, since missiles don’t do the Att/Def thing, they just hit the square or not. I’m not at my computer so I can’t check but aren’t Hinnom’s chariots Tramplers? I guess Trample does have to hit first. Nate is right - if you can’t beat someone, you need to go around/get out of the way. Some battles are unwinnable given specific matchups/circumstances, but that doesn’t mean they have to make you lose.

I think the earlier suggestion of using massed archers is the best one in this situation. Load up on lion-tribe archers and the like, they are very cost-efficient against a low-armor no-shield unit like the W5E. As for spells, the earliest I can think of that that would be really effective against them is Blade Wind at Evoc 4. If the archer plan doesn’t seem feasible that’s probably the best way to go.
