B3 mages are guaranteed to get blood slaves if the province population is >5000 and there is no unrest. B2 mages should also get slaves 90% of the time if the above conditions are met.

I seem to recall that someone did the numbers on the Shrapnel boards and found out that it’s worthwhile (for a nation that primarily has B1 blood hunters, and no other options) to forge blood boosters for your hunters. You spend 25 slaves up front for the booster (the life drain dagger preferably), and the investment pays off in a few turns. Plus you get a nifty dagger that can be decent thug/SC gear in some situations.

Abysia? Are you certain? :D

IIRC, the formula is 10% + Bx40% for liberating d6+B doe-eyed virgins from the clutches of their unworthy families. Not landing a single slave with a B1 mage in 8 turns of hunting requires some serious bad luck (or massive unrest).

A Dominions d6 has an expected value of 4.

Assuming unrest=0 and pop>5000, this gets you
B0: 10% x 4 = .4 slaves/turn
B1: 50% x 5 = 2.5 slaves/turn
B2: 90% x 6 = 5.4 slaves/turn
B3: 100% x 7 = 7 slaves/turn
on average.

Considering unrest generation and all, I’ve found the sweet spot to be somewhere in the vicinity of three B2 hunters per province.

Five hours left on Hugin. Waiting on Bruce and Steve. I’m thinking we should get an extension in just in case, eh?

Thanks for the information, tenuki. I can handle a 50% chance for my B1 mages for what I am trying to do so will keep trying. I was guessing it was 8 turns, but may have been less and there is/has been no unrest yet in that province. I will try a few more turns to see if it turns around and throw a couple more mages in the province now that I know I have better chances than I am seeing so far to be successful.

Good deal. Thanks for the info. I am finding that most of my memories are from Dominions 2 and the Blood forged boosters being easier to access than they are now. I also didn’t realize that the Dousing Rods were +2 to blood hunting skill as I always thought they were +1 for some reason. I used to always use B1 mages + rods so they were effectively B3 mages so I guess I am just not used to failing, heheh. Still, I can understand the changes that have been made.

Esposito: could we please postpone the current turn? Am on holiday with no Dominions access until after the weekend.

Oops! Can I get a 24 hour extension? I am on a trip and everything is insanely busy and I will reply to PMs about the game when I can.

Just a quick repeat plea, cuz I don’t want to stale.

There’s still more than 24 hours until it hosts, so I don’t think you need to worry about Scribble missing your message.

Oh, thanks. I guess he got my message. I got a 12 hour warning this morning.

Sorry I missed it Dave. Am on holiday until Sunday with only intermittent internet access. I will increase the timer for the games to 72 hours while I am away to reduce the chance of more stales.

I have not opened the turn
Given how devastating stalls can be at this stage, I’d support a re-do (if DP wants/needs one that is) …

Oh, it’s thursday. Sorry for misinforming you Dave. :(

Oh shit - i looked at my turn, and um…kinda submitted. Sorry, i generally dont check the board before getting my turn to prevent spoilers…

I’m open for a redo too

Don’t worry about it, sweethearts!

A mulligan would not have bothered me either, but it seems Dave is fine regardless.

I really wish I could break that 7 province barrier.

Ya, lets talk about that…

Provinces aren’t worth much except to generate gold, gems and building forts, temples and labs. They are a means to an end.

In that end though, it is gold, gems, forts, temples and labs that are most important. Gold produces the buildings, gold buys the mages and armies, mages supply the research, mages find the gems, and mages and gems win the game. The common thread of all that is gold.

To date, and let me check here…Bogarus has earned 27k gold. That’s over 2x half the nations in the game. It is only a little less than #2 and #3 combined and is still 9k more than #2.

With that gold, Bogarus has bought the most forts, 4 - at least double of half the nations in the game. My guess, is that there’s even more coming…

With that gold, Bogarus has bought the most mages. At 1200 research, you’re at least twice half the nations in the game. And you’re about 300 more than your nearest competitor. Additionally, you’re still producing more research than anyone else AND you have the capability to add to that research even faster, because you have more forts.

And with those mages, you’ve accumulated more gems than anyone else. 40 more than your nearest competitor, and THAT gap is still growing.

Finally, well - you’re land locked now. To advance, you’re going to need to attack one of your neighbors - and you only neighbor 3 people. Which one are you going to rip apart? Or are you aiming to cure the mosquito threat?

The only sensible cause is for the nations of the world to unite and destroy the bogari threat.

Thank you for your attention.

Hmm, just running an excel model(for fun!)

Let’s look at that gold thing another way. Most nations are earning 100g per province per month. The #3 nation would need to add 11 provinces JUST to catch up to the bogari earning potential NOW.

Let’s say that the #3 nation adds one province a month starting on turn 20, and that province generates 100 gold automatically, and during that time Bogarus remains constant. Do you know how many turns are necessary to eliminate the gold differential already established? 29 additional turns. So, assuming they have added a province a turn, every turn, for 29 turns, and that province generates 100g immediately, and you remain constant, they will catch up to you in gold on turn 49.

Kinda scary eh?

Whatever, man. 10 turns from now, my income will be lower than it is now, while yours will only grow. Don’t think everybody doesn’t know that you’re trying to shift attention from yourself.

Also, is llamaserver down?
