Missouri? Will do.

South Dakota :)

Crooked Trunk a CBM Middle Era Game of 8 players.

I’m looking at the land of ethereal squirrels, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showpost.php?p=807145&postcount=29. If you have downloaded a previous version of ethereal squirrel, you may want to nab this one. It has a couple connections fixed that are not in the old ones.

Planning to start the actual game around July 16th.

Hold 3 capitols for an entire turn is the victory condition.

Do the math. 8 nations on a 103 land province map will be very tight.

The order of selection
Austen - Vanheim
Evil Steve - Pythia
Pyrhic - Caelum
Nate
Maerlande
Tenuki
Dave Perkins
dfs

Remaining Nation pool
Machaka, Eriu, Agartha, Shinuyama, Ulm, Jotun, Man, Abysia, Pan, Bandar

Diplomacy by E-mail/pm and the forum are to be encouraged.

I expect Crooked Trunk to run at a slightly more relaxed pace than Spring Lion, but if you find yourself regularly staling in other games or if you have real life commitments that will take you away for weeks at a time in August/September then please consider waiting for (or starting) another game.

Remember to use the CBM mod during pretender creation.

Will the connections between 20-25 and 19-23 be fixed for CT? Scribble fixed the second one for the RAND game.

Yeah. I just found those. Are those the only two?

As far as I can remember, yes.

It’s official!

It’s over! There was no resistance at the capital of Utgard. I wasted 15 minutes of my life scripting and gemming. :)

Many thanks to Scribble for hosting. And I also raise my cup to…

Austen! He asked me some how-to-play questions at the beginning of the game, and when farfrael overran him, he dumped his gem piles to me in thanks. I’m glad you’ll be back for the next game, sir.

Pyrhic! Without your talented attack on Nikolaj (Bogarus) in the middle of the game, I believe that Nikolaj would have run us all over. You’re also a blast to communicate with diplomatically.

Nikolaj! What a great sport while being swarmed under from all sides. You showed great class, and put up a spirited fight that definitely affected the endgame. I’m lucky to have been away from your borders.

Farfrael! And Nate for spelling him. Hard to believe that the game nearly ended with an Utgard victory, given how hard you had to fight against Austen and then Nikolaj. I love the way you basically told me to shove my diplomatic ideas up my ass at the start of the game, farfrael! And Nate showed great class, like Nikolaj, when I totally backstabbed the eff out of him. I would have been whiny and petulant if I were you.

Sharaleo! The only person I stayed allied with for the whole game. You took the brunt of Bogarus’s counterattack. A geographical twist of fate, sir. Thank you for helping me attack Jomon, and thank you for being willing to reverse things when Pyrhic convinced us to focus on Nikolaj.

One of my favorite games yet. Just the right length and number of people. I didn’t craft any items over level 6, or cast anything more powerful than Fog Warriors. All of my turns took 10-15 minutes to play. I spent more time communicating with the other players than I did scripting and moving my units. Love it!

Just before Pyrhic gatestoned his army onto the former Arco capital, I was heading there (and toward Utgard) with everything I had. I remember the turn where I was puzzling over what to do, sure that I had lost the game, when I remembered my sparkle horsies are both stealthy and sailors – and then I eyed Utgard – and right then, Nate wrote me a note that reminded me of our NAP. A 7-turn NAP, he said! I didn’t even bother to look it up to see if it really was that long. I just said, “Yup! Brothers forever!”

My little army led by my national hero Vanlade defeated two really tough enemy armies – Pyrhic’s gatestone army led by his pretender, and Nate’s foray from his capital (with 30+ mages). In both cases, his reinforcements had not yet arrived. I am seriously proud of that hero and his army! Skinshifters + Fog Warriors is quite something.

Hat’s off to all of you folks. Let’s play some more.

Congratulations Dave. I wish I’d been able to see last half of the game.

I was defeated about midway through, I guess, but I agree that the number of players as well as the length (had I played to the end) was almost perfect. I’m currently on turn 74 in another game, and I don’t see it ending anytime soon, and frankly I’m beginning to reach the point where I no longer care if I win, I just want it to end. :(

I’d love to play another game with you guys, but I think I’ll be too busy in the next couple of months, since I’ll be moving to Taiwan. I’ll check back sometime in september, though, to see if a game is being organized then.

Thanks again for the game, everybody. :)

Been there. No fun at all.

You wound me, sir!

:D

Congrats Dave, that was indeed an awesome win!

Congrats Dave! Your description almost makes me feel sorry that I wasn’t there to be defeated by you.

Even the random universe thinks I’m better than you :P

Crooked Trunk

Open season on nation selection with Austen going first.

Try this map here…I believe I’ve made all the appropriate corrections.

Remember when creating your build to use the CBM.

Sorry Pyhric. The coin flip didn’t like you.

Perkins won a game? What the hell is going on here and what’s wrong you people? Kill him first.

Vanheim!

Munin

Congrats on the win Dave, very well played!

Also agree the game length and format is pretty good, enjoyed this one despite never being a real threat in terms of challenging for a victory myself. Seem to be having a bad run in the income department in my last few games.

pyrhic, I did not realise the game would end as soon as someone took a third capital (did it just happen to be scoring round, or can it be set as a victory conditions). Post victory, I was planning on challenging you to an open field battle, since we had all those troops, thugs and mages just standing around doing nothing! :)

And is it just me, or does CBM nerf the shit our of blood? Jade knives and dousing rods seem to be const-8 uniques! Never had a chance of getting anywhere near them - a particular problem for Mictlan, I thought. Stupid me forgot to enable CBM on my test games, so it was a bit of a head-scratching shock.

Chest bumps all around!

Evil Steve you are up.
Any nation from the pool, but Vanheim.
