This game sucks!!! ;) All my careful pre game planning mangled by some horrible errors. God.

Haha, yes it’s very invigorating. Although I feel pretty screwed now. I couldn’t affort that fight with BL. But then, I couldn’t afford the last two fights either.

I didn’t want to fight you yet. When my turn got screwed up, and I had to submit a new one in like 10 minutes, I should have abandoned the Eriu siege and grouped my units in the adjacent province. Then I would have had time to provide scripting to my mages and flankers. DUMB OF ME. Lesson learned!

Seconded. Congrats, Scribble!

I love how you blame technology for your failures. Silly monkeys.

My poop.
I throw it at you.

Aye. Well done, Scribble!

Congrats again!

(Though I must admit I would’ve liked to see a little more fighting spirit on part of my would-be saviors.)

Throw it at a Van fort. You get 30 gems if you hit. IF you hit.

I don’t know what to say to that. What I’ve seen of Scribble’s armies would pretty much fly right through anything I have. I believe I responded some time ago that the war with Nate had set me far enough back that I was not your salvation.

Recognizing where the dogpile should pile is part of the game. I can’t honestly fault Nate for going the other way and trying to take me out. I can fault him for not succeeding, but that’s something else. He certainly had me on the ropes.

I think “we” collectively could prolong the game significantly by raiding the edges of Marignon territory with you hitting from the seas and Caelum popping down from the skies, but I don’t think any of us could stand up to one of his armies. I’ve never seen successful multi-nation raiding like that against a leader. The coordination and communication needed to pull something like that off is daunting. If y’all want to give it a go, I will keep submitting turns, but frankly, I don’t hold out a lot of hope.

I’m curious why you chose to stand and fight over a limited amount of territory instead of taking to the seas and hitting him where he wasn’t? It seemed a natural fit for your nation.

Oh, I can still do that. However, one problem is that my cap’s on land and refuses to be aquaticized. The same is true for most of my (gem) income – the area Marignon just took has The Underworld, for example. Cede these things to the leader? Nah. I’d rather be the underdog in a fight and agitate for support.

I expressed myself poorly.
It seems that for a good bit of the time during this game, you and Marignon faced off in 10/19.
I’m curious why you didn’t use the seas to hit 12/7/98/17/24 or 15/6/3?

Now…my scouting was poor and focused elsewhere so perhaps you did and I just didn’t see it.

Ah, that.

I visited 19, 10, 12, 16, 17 at least twice each. In fact, I’m currently holding (ah, well, not really holding in the conventional sense) 17.

I had 10 under siege twice, briefly. The first time was relatively early in the game, but I moved out right away because I thought I’d be wiped out if Scribble breaks siege. He did break out, with fewer troops than I had thought… I wish I’d stayed.

The second time I did stay and lost by a close margin.

The provinces farther to the south (7, 98) I can only attack from 100; moving an army there takes time and would’ve exposed my home base too much IMO. The few times I did have an army there, those two provs looked pretty well defended and I struck elsewhere.

Raiding 7/98 was pretty much out of the question for me. If I read the tea leaves correctly, 7 is a bloodhunting province, and those are really bad terrain for my thugs. 98 had a well-manned fort since like forever.

As for raiding in general, I was a little disappointed with my thugs; they turned out to be more fragile than I’d thought. Next time I’ll definitely use a build that relies more on troops.

The capitol only sacreds are what hurt. If those guys were recruitable everywhere Atlantis could stand toe to toe with just about anybody. As it is, Atlantis is largely about mobility. I thought that would help you on this map, but it didn’t really seem to be a factor.

Thanks guys, it was a good game and hit the sweet spot in terms of length. Good chance I could have ended it in about half a dozen turns by taking two more capitals.

I’ll do a proper AAR if people want me to. For the moment I’ll just say that the power of blood and awesome mages that are recruit anywhere won the game.

Here’s a download link to my latest turn file if anyone is curious: http://www.mediafire.com/?lfohdr0vnjn4fz2

Yeah, I realized later on that while you were close in income (gold) for a lot of the game, you were probably raking in huge amounts of blood slaves which tend to reduce your overall gold income. Put both together and you were building armies at a much faster pace than anyone else, and good ones to boot!

I won’t have any spare time for about a week or two, but once I catch up a bit at work, I will try to post some results from the game.

The same is true for research vs. blood and Atlantis. Which is kinda why I kept yelling at y’all for these past 20 turns.

Hey Dudes. One of our newer members on Dom3mods is very keen on fast blitz games so he’s sponsoring a tournament for dueling by putting up $50 of his own money. Nothing massive but it’s got some interesting players. So let’s all remember how misleading the graphs can be. Things aren’t anywhere as wacky as they look. Let’s just all be Fonzie’s here… We should talk things through…

You mean unless we all come together against Vanheim, Vanheim will win. That’s a fact, people. He’s torn apart Pangaea and now he’s working on dismantling my lands with raiders. We have no choice but to band together against the juggernaut. Pythium, you’re needed as well. I assume you’ve gotten all the scraps that Vanheim is leaving you from the Pangaean feast. Continuing to support the nation that is clearly nearing victory…well, it’s up to you guys. I’m already fighting him with everything I have. If he takes me out, game over.

So tempting…but I just don’t have the time these days, even with Sleipnir finishing up.
