I declare war.

@Nate - fair enough… I missed the humor in the post, but I will re-calibrate the humor-detector and see if I can’t fix that.

It struck me as trolling because of the parts that were inaccurate (the timing of your attack and the “insulting” offer bit).

I’m prob just over-sensitive because I’ve had games where folks were deliberately posting lies to the forums (repeatedly) getting me super-duper ganged up on…

I promise to lighten up and not be old and crotchety from now on! :)

I never thought it would happen, but it has: someone is worse at Dom3 diplomacy than me! Austen is my newest, bestest friend.

Crooked Trunk

And TAKE THAT CAELUM! Now if I can just hang on to a candle or two for the next round with BL. Or whoever is next to foolishly siege my capital. I dare you! Come and get some bbq. This month it’s roast spider with bird stuffing. Yum. Next month will probably be monkey brains.

No if you enjoy it then by all means. Personally I prefer to let my actions in the game speak for me and have engaged in less and less diplomacy the more games I’ve played. You don’t NEED to do much of it to be successful, as long as you observe some basic rules like keeping your strength hidden, don’t overexpand etc. YMMV.

Has anybody noticed that nobody’s attacking Van in the literal sense of actually sending actual troops to actually fight his troops?

I’d say that this ‘worst ever diplomacy’ isn’t backfiring as advertised, despite the acrimony in the forum.

And frankly, I don’t get it.

I’ve seen this sort of thing a lot in QT3 games and have benefited from it on many occasions. I don’t think it’s unique to QT3, but there are more such passive players here than on Dom3mods or even Shrapnel.

A typical symptom is statements like:
“I won’t attack <insert obvious leader> because <reason x>”

Where x can be one or several of:
-I need to hit a research target first
-I need to forge items and summon monsters/thugs to prepare for war
-Other players also commit to attack the obvious leader
-I just need to completely finish up this other war that’s in the cleanup stage
-The last war took such a toll on my nation that I need to recover first

Sometimes these are decent reasons not to go to war, but most of time it’s flawed thinking, overestimating their opponent and lack of flexibility.

Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking spiders in these motherfucking plains!

Yeah, the strategic importance of striking at the correct time far outweighs the tactical advantages of having “prepared”.

Also, i’m finally back from Asia! It’s good to be home…

Asia? The country?

rock band; they needed a drummer…

With Sleipnir in the books I’ve been thinking about starting a new game. A small one with 5-7 players. I’d want to wait until the new CBM is released, which should be within a week or so. Don’t think it will contain any drastic changes.

Additionally, I’d want to add a few mod nations to the mix. For instance Dwarfs, Ogres and Itza could be selectable. I’m a long way off being bored with the base game, but it would be cool to see some of these nations in action.

Any interest in such a game idea?

Me. I still need to finish up my monster turns in esposito. Ron and I have resurrected it.

I’d be in if it’s the same type of game as these last few have been (ie, smaller, quicker-style) games…

With the ends of Hugin and Sleipnir, I might be interested in another game.

I would prefer the base game, but you host what you want.

I would likely be up for a new game… I would prefer CBM, but no mod nations, but I’m certainly not going to be demanding about it, just a preference…

Sparkle ponies have surrounded my capital and will breach the walls in a couple turns. I think I underestimated Austen’s ability to take out my forts.

The Sparkle Ponies are just there to offer Sparkle Pony Rides to all your people! You should open the gates so your people aren’t disappointed… We all know there is no such thing as a Trojan Sparkle Pony…

Crooked Trunk has been delayed 24 hours.
It will host then.
