Gentlemen, CBM 1.93 is released: http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?showtopic=972

The major change seems to be a change in the income % bonus of different scales. Instead of 6% per order tick, 4% per production tick and 2% per growth tick, it’s now 5%/3%/1% respectively. Scales builds have become less attractive as a result. There’s also been tweaking of pretenders. Should be interesting to test it out.

I’m in for a new game, if not too late.

Geez you guys have been dragging your feet on some of these others.

I’ve asked dfs for another delay. Apologies, gentlemen, but I’ve been ridiculously busy these past few days. Tomorrow evening is free, though, so definitely going to be able to get a turn in then barring any unforseen alien invasion.

New game:

I count dfs, Austen, wahoo, sharaleo, pyrhic and myself as interested so far. Room for one more - tenuki or Nate, want payback for Sleipnir? :) We’ll play to 3 capitals and hopefully have a game that won’t go past turn 60.

I’ll come back with details later. Going to wait a little while for the kinks to be ironed out of the latest CBM release. Will open for nation selection this weekend or next week, with ample time for pretender design after that. Any input for how to assign nations? Was thinking just letting people choose nations themselves, first come first serve. Another option would be the old QT3 method of every player nominating a nation to “throw into the pot” and distributing those nations randomly afterwards.

Love to, but I’m too busy for another game. Maybe I’ll join the next one in six months.

Alas, no time. I joined a game (Shear dem Hydras) on Invisions that’s just starting. Given my current RL schedule I simply can’t handle another.

Now you have “It’s the final countdown” music stuck in my head. That show is amazing.

What is this show? I honestly don’t own a TV.

It is the chicken dance from Arrested Development. The point is that you are chicken for refusing to join a new game and that you should feel bad. :)

Thanks for asking. I had no clue either.

My preference would be a significant 2-3 week lag between nation selection and the game starting. It takes some time for me to learn the ins and outs.

I wouldn’t mind trying another down the road sometime, but I want to get a bit more practice and experience on some things. For now I still have Nate’s BF game and am doing a lot better there so far :).

I am a bit conflicted about the setup for the new game…

I sort of like the idea of (potentially) being forced to try something new. As it is for me right now, I have certain strengths and weaknesses and I tend to gravitate towards nations that play well into my playstyle.

At the same time, I like the idea of being forced to play against form in some ways to become a better player. Crooked Trunk is like this for me with it’s aggressive win conditions which take me out of my comfort zone a bit.

Other times though I get a nation that I don’t know what to do with and I just sort of die… which isn’t much fun :P

On the invision boards most of the games are mostly EA games, so I know those fairly well, but I’ve only ever played LA here… which also fits into the "things I prob need practice with even though/because I am less comfortable with.

So… after all those words, I guess I would prob. like something other than “pick your own EA nation”

One that I saw recently that’s a bit more work for admin is random assignment and you can request one “reroll” if you just feel boned with what you got, but you keep second roll no matter what…

Ha! You don’t know the amount of willpower it cost me to say no. I’m feeling… EMPOWERED.

Ok, sign me up.

Not.

WAAAARGH!!!

Hell. Forget free time. Sign me up Scribble.

I think this behavior is becoming a pattern.

Anyone know of any discussions on mod nation balance issues? There are a few mod nations that sound neat that I’d like to try, but I’d hate to pick something that’s horribly overpowered.

I’m a bit unsure about mod nations for this game. I wanted to use the expanded nation pack by llamabeast, but seems it’s in the process of being updated. Don’t know the timeline on that. I’m sure it’s still fine to use now, but I think at least a couple have balance issues. Shangri-La for instance has been described as a nation that does everything well (though I’m not sure it’s much better than MA Pythium to be honest). So maybe I’ll just pick a couple of mod nations to add to the pool, I’ll do some more research on the matter.

I kind of like the idea Austen mentioned for nation selection.

Basically each player gets rolled a random land nation from the era (we’ll prob. use middle era). Don’t like it? You get one reroll (with the nation you originally rolled excluded) but have to keep the reroll.

Any objections to that?

Oh, and glad to have you aboard Nate! The game is now full.

The Austen Plan for nation selection is fine with me.

I’m fine with whichever you decide scribble
