Soon to be renamed game previously known as Kill Perkins

How are people doing with pretender design? I think I’m ready after 30-odd tries at finding something I like for Agartha. Ready to start the game this week?

I’m good for this week.

uhmmm. I’m behind the curve, but I’ll keep trying.

I have a mohawk?

I wondered what those looks were for.

Crooked Trunk Update…

Bandar has taken Eriu’s capitol.
He Joins Vanheim as a country holding two capitols.

How lucky was I that your Pretender was paralyzed in the opening rounds? Good grief.

The move I’m proud of was the Fire Elemental shield to counter your flanking Sidhe Lords, which worked great.

BTW folks…

Eriu is broken in crooked trunk.

I’ll be able to pull some nuisance moves, but I very much doubt my ability to take my capitol back. The time to strike Perkins is now!

Can we start maybe next Monday? I’m swamped right now and tested one pretender who sucked.

No worries, wahoo and dfs. I want everyone to get the time they need to build a pretender they’re happy with.

There is a bit of a muddle in Baalz description here. The boost to slaves is ONLY for purposes of fatigue calculations. An S1 slave is still S1 for purposes of casting spells. The exact fatigue per spell I never bother calculating. I also use almost exclusively reverse communions. Here is a simple example of what I typically do.

S1 mage: Communion Slave, cast spells
S1 Mage: Communion Slave, cast spells
S1 mage: Communion slave, cast spells
S1 mage: Communion Slave, cast spells
S3 mage: Communion Slave, Light of the Northern Star, Cast spells
S1 mage: Communion Slave, cast spells
S1 master: Communion Master, Power of the Spheres, Personal Luck, Resist Magic, Astral Shield, cast spells
S2E3 master: Communion Master, summon E power, invulnerability, other buffs, cast spells.

The result here is that all of the slaves get a +2 astral boost and all those buffs.

The S1 master will be boosted to S3 from slaves (6 slaves) and +1 from LOTNS for S4 and +1 from PotS for S5.
The S2E3 master will be boosted to S5 E5 from +2 for slaves and +1 S from LotNS.
All of the slaves get all of the buffs cast by the masters.
Because the two masters are last on the list, all slaves can cast spells each round.
I use a rule of thumb of at least 2:1 slave to master ratio and almost never lose a slave to fatigue kill. 4:1 is safer.

The result is that you can make a communion with yogis and gurus and have all yogis at S3 for paralyze and all gurus at S4 for enslave mind or soul slay. And all are buffed. Attacks start round 2 and get better round 3. It’s even more effective with the masters using Crystal Matrices to save one round casting Communion Master. You can give Slave matrices to all slaves but that’s a lot of gems. I rarely bother.

If you increase this to say 2 masters and 10 slaves it’s extremely powerful. And other paths help too. Don’t do it with a D mage and cast soul vortex without a LOT of careful placement. They might kill each other. And be very careful doing this with a fire mage master. It will most likely cast phoenix pyre and if one slave gets a stray arrow and dies the whole communion will blow up.

That was an excellent guide, Maerlande. What do you do for a living?

Actually, wait! My original question was about having mages cast communion slave after another mage casts communion master, but your example had the masters last, and then you make the comment above, which I don’t understand. Why can’t slaves (further down in the list than masters) cast spells?

That’s just sort of how the mechanic works…

Slaves that are after any masters will never cast… they just soak fatigue…

The “normal” communion has a master first up and the slaves just help by soaking fatigue (and boosting masters casting level).

Maer’s example is a “reverse” communion because he has the masters last. So all the slaves that come up before the first master can still cast… but any slaves after the first master, cannot cast and just soak…

Right now I’m Dad. Usually I’m an engineer.

PS: I don’t get paid. But it seems my current job is teaching and coaching dominions. Or at least I spend a hell of a lot of hours a day doing it. And administering the OTHER forum :)

“Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”

;)

I don’t even know what second capital Austen is holding. Shinuyama?

Yup.

This war that only I wanted sure did turn in his favor quickly. Yeesh, Austen. I can’t seem to find the right combo to take on your forces.

It is the endgame!

An army of 300 Vanheim units is one space away from Machaka’s capital. Could Maerlande repel yet another army using his Pretender, a handful of gems, and his wits? Can Caelum demonstrate the power he’s been able to build up while at peace? Will my ragtag bunch of archers and tigers be able to put a dent in a Vanheim army supported by mages with twice the firepower as mine?

Classic Perkins :) Trying to make everyone attack the other guy while he goes and wins the game.

woops, shut down the computer befor it sent my turn…

but typically, IT DIDN’T MATTER

;)
