As I said, sucks to be the world. :)
But anyway, even if I had won, Austen still had hundreds of troops inside his fort. No way I could have cracked it in two turns, to say nothing of winning the battle for the fort.
Interesting factoid of the day: If you occupy the full width of the battlefield, fliers apparently can’t get through. I hadn’t known that.
At any rate, I’m finished. Congrats, Austen! Great game.

If I recall, if they have to fly over troops there is a chance they get intercepted. No idea how it is determined though.

Actually, i think it’s cause he had storm up…

This should summon Callahan… if not though, I’m pretty sure that saying Callahan three times will summon him. Which is cool because I would love to see Callahan drop some knowledge on how flying and Zone of Control works.
In this particular case it’s actually pretty simple though and your guys didn’t fly over due to me having a storm up before any of them got a movement phase. There’s a StormFlying attribute that guys can have to allow them to… you know… fly in storms, but none of your guys had that.
Still… I would love it if Callahan came by and shared his thoughts on Flying and Zone of Control :)
Edit: Dammmit Pyrhic!

OK, I will submit another turn. I just want to be extra-sure I’m not missing something though. The game is over, right? Since I cannot possibly lose a capitol next turn?
I’ve been playing the last couple turns like this is the case. If not, I want to know what I’ve got wrong before I submit.
If my understanding is correct, then I will shuffle some guys around… maybe fight Steve’s army, but I’m not going to get too worried about making everything perfect.

Uhhh - right. It was a round-one storm by the DEFENDER. Round one of the attacker comes AFTER that, and you WERE the attacker. Do you understand that, tenuki?
I suggest y’all just forget my borderline senile blatherings. Except for the part where I congratulate Austen, that is.

Heh, at least agartha isnt my freaking problem.
And, oh hi, Pythium.
Nothing further.

Wouldnt it be funny if I had a heavy earth pretender, and a highly mobile army.
Hey! That is funny!

I’m thinking of hosting an rand, no-comm, game with a slight twist.
Age: early
players: 5-7+1
Map: TBD
Winning condition: ownership of simple majority of capitals
Rules:
Starting nations are random, from a pool, and distributed to players.
No comms of any kind are allowed between nations
The twist comes from the +1
The +1 indicates an astral nation called ‘the watchers’, which would be played by me.
The watchers can own no territory but their capital, can attack no territory, nor be attacked by any player nation.
Furthermore, they are bound by the following rules:
They will act to dispel any global spell cast, choosing first to dispel the global cast by the player with a lead in Provinces, gems, income, and army (in that order in the event of more than one global), but the actual gems used is left to the discretion of the watcher nation.
They may acquire no artifacts, not summon any unique creatures.
Each turn they must tithe 10% of their gold and gems(both rounded up) to the lowest ranking nations in those categories every turn. In the event of ties, all amounts, rounded down, are to be split between tied nations.
Finally, they will broadcast a message every turn about the state of the world.
I dunno, it’s an idea, and i welcome any feedback. The thought is to create a rand game with a little bit of a neutralizer and a little bit of communication through that nation.
If you’re interested in playing, or might be but want a rule tweak, please let me know…

pyrhic, I enjoy RAND-style games, but not sure the variation you propose is for me. Might be up for a straight up one though.

I would be interested in a RAND game. I don’t really have a preference on the rules and could probably go with whatever you guys come up with.

I have no self control and am already working on early era builds for Pyrhic’s rand game even though I don’t have a nation yet.

Kill Scribble has hosted and my turn did not come into my email box or my spam filter.
About 10 minutes ago I requested a resend and it has not arrived either.
This happened to me a couple times about a year and a half ago.
Ideas?

Not sure how that would actually help…
Crumble doesn’t make a for go away, it just reduces the strength of the walls. Then you have to Storm the castle which you have to do by issuing the “Storm Castle” order. So even if the castle has had its walls Crumbled to zero and you land 9989734587239 guys there this turn, unless you’ve already issued the Storm Castle order (which you can only do after strength of walls is reduced to 0) then you can’t storm it in the coming turn.
You can issue the Storm Castle orders this turn to be executed next turn, but the game will be over by then. Or at least that’s me understanding.
Which is why I’m seeking clarification to make sure I’m not missing some detail of the victory conditions.
That’s the kind of thinking I did back when I was sure I had won this game, and that there was no possibility of anyone else winning. And then it didn’t happen. Honestly, I’m still not sure how my thinking was flawed!

This is what I mentioned earlier about my surprise at others’ surprise…
The turn you stormed Machaka I put Eriu under siege with enough guys to damage the walls and clearly had 400+ troops in a position to fortify that siege the next turn. (Some of those troops had Gate Cleavers which you might not know about).
Gate Cleavers and Crumbles and whatnot aside, adding the weight of 400+ troops to a siege that is already damaging the walls of a fort with a defensive strength of 250 seems to be very likely to breach the walls to allow the Storm Castle command to be issued.
Again, I had better information that anyone about my position, but maybe you could tell me why that surprised you and I can maybe answer or address it in an AAR?

Well all (much?) will be revealed when Perkins submits. I have a very sloppy, lazy, half-assed turn submitted :P
