Or you end up out in front of a parade of one. Sometimes it works…and then there are other times.

Truth on my end. Scribbs offered me an early peace and I was having none of it.

“Scribbs” and I have had quite a colorful relationship this game: His olive branches have been carefully disguised as clubs.

In fairness, I have hardly been innocent. But i’d like to think that i’ve just been roleplaying the merry Pan. Chaotic neutral is really hard for me, but i try.

Btw scribbs, what was up with those hurlers you sent my way this round? That wasnt the start of your eminent invasion was it? How does that saying go? “If they were sent to fight, there are too few. If they were sent to die, there are too many.”

huggles,

Pan!

Misclick. :)

Alright crew, listen up.

When Dom3 went on sale at Shrapnel a few weeks ago I thought it was time I gave something back to the QT3 community. To that end I have two copies of Dom3 to give away to members interested in getting into the game.

I realise most people perusing this thread probably own the game already, but if you are a lurker in here that is interested, reply here or PM me.

That said, there are is a couple of caveats. First up, you need to have >100 posts here on QT3. More importantly, the idea is to grow our community of players, so the hope is that acceptance comes with a commitment to actually get involved with the great bunch of existing players* here and join a few games.

If I don’t get a bite here, I’ll repost in the game giveaway thread tomorrow.

*Nate excepted, because he just rolled over for Scribble… ;)

Edit - both copies taken!

Recipients:
Canuck
Morberis

Incredibly generous offer. Message sent.

I already have the game (and hope to join in again, once my schedule opens up a bit), but my hat’s off for you. This really is incredibly generous.

Indeed, well done sharaleo.

I would add that the community here is really good for getting into multi-player with. There is some good solid competition, but people have also been very willing to lend a helping hand if you ask.

I would love to take that second copy. And as a thank you when it pops up on desura or steam I’ll pass the good will on with another copy.

Edited for douchiness.

Both copies have been taken. Canuck, Morberis, keep an eye on your PM for details.

Cheers guys!

  1. That’s super-awesome Sharaleo! Very cool!

  2. Crooked Trunk AAR - I will have some more next week I think… most drawn-out AAR ever :P

  3. Kill Scribble:

  • It’s a shame that sand-bagging has to be such a big part of the game. If you are doing well, you almost have to post constantly about how you’re not doing well.

  • Geez… MA Agartha can just get silly with the research in a hurry…

  • Re: Nate’s ill-conceived notion - I sometime think he’s just doing a bit. I think now he really believes what he posted. There’s just a huge disconnect there. It’s like I believe in my heart that the Earth is round and he believes it’s flat. None of my logic or science (witchcraft) is going to change his mind and none of is pronouncements about the obvious flatness of the Earth is going to change mine.

I was right. You win the grand prize for biggest douche I’ve ever played with, Austen.

Your habit of insulting me (repeatedly) whenever I attack you demonstrates how childish (I edited that a few times-readers, choose your own favorite word) you are. Don’t join any games I’m a part of in the future. It’s really exhausting dealing with you, and I’m playing to have fun with people I enjoy interacting with and who will provide a challenging game. You are not one of those people.

Anybody care to take over a fairly decently positioned Mictlan in the KillScribble game? I’ve lost my interest in continuing to play with Austen and could use a permanent sub.

Nate, I think you’re being a bit over-dramatic (private conversations between you and Austen aside).

Anyone anywhere, at this point in the game, would have looked at the graphs and seen Agartha was way out in front, with massive leads in all but research, poised to take a second cap (which has now occurred).

Austen was vocal in needing to do something about it. Maybe he knew he would not have to contribute to the effort and it would ultimately be to his benefit, maybe he was just interested in containing the threat. I (Eriu), despite not having land access to Agartha, never once claimed I could not join the effort and have since attacked in the water as planned.

The fact remains that you were part of the discussions that identified the threat and agreed to a plan of action, only to back-flip at the 11th hour. You have to expect to take some flak for that.

You have your reasons for your decision, which is fine. It is what it is and that’s Dominions, I don’t need you to explain yourself anymore than you have. But crying foul and throwing in the towel seems a little ‘childish’ yourself. I’m not intending to have a go at you here, but what has occurred in the game outwardly seems no different to many others and I’m not convinced it warrants your response above.

Can I suggest you ask Scribble to delay the game for a few days and cool off a bit before seeking a replacement?

Austen, lay off Nate for a bit, he’s made his position clear, we won’t change his mind so it’s unnecessary to flog a dead horse.

With the caveat that I have not seen any private conversations, I too think that Nate is overreacting a bit here. Austen is being too insulting / condescending for my tastes, but nothing to warrant leaving the game over. Just turn it around and use it as motivation to kick his ass properly. :)

This reminds me of the last time I was involved in heated diplomacy, back in my first game here (Newbie Rumble 2). Mysterio was in that game, and he too sometimes blew up on the forum when diplomacy didn’t go his way or tactics he disapproved of were used. Even so I remember it as a good game with a lot of intense battles!

FWIW it was also mysterio’s last game.

IIRC he did what Nate is doing (waffled out of an anti-scribble-alliance) only he continued to sit on his hands and egg on the rest of us and it was…10-15 turns before we realized he wasn’t joining in. By then Scribble had gone from a single dominion candle to knocking out Matt and putting the beatdown on me all while Mysterio watched from the sidelines. I’m sure his point of view was different than mine.

We had some non-admirable exchanges in the forums when the grand anti-scribble alliance became a grand anti-mysterio alliance.

Although I believe he would kick my tail, I would gladly play with him again.

It sucks all the fun out of the game when I’m called stupid and ignorant by another player.

I have no interest in being around people who behave in that manner. There’s no drama in this decision. In fact, I sat on this decision for days to be sure my mind wouldn’t change, that it wasn’t just the heat of the moment.

Turns out it wasn’t.

Newbie to both Qt3 and Dom3. Been lurking on this thread for quite a while.

Anyone interested in putting together a teach the newbie game?

Yeah, I’ll put together a game for newish players. Might not play myself, as I might not be considered all that new any more, but happy to organise and administer.

Register your interest and I’ll compile a list.

I think probably early age for players with, say, less than 10 Dom3 games under their belt. I’ll select some ‘easy’ nations and map based on number of players and randomise assignment.

My thought would be to NOT structure this game similar to how we have here recently (3 caps wins), in order to de-emphasise rushing and allow new players some room to breathe as they explore their options and have a chance to get to late game. Unless the preference is short and sharp…

That was a great game. If I remember correctly, I (T’ien Ch’i) was stuck between Scribble (Man?) to my west and Ermor to my east. I don’t remember how the game played out with regards to the anti-Scribble campaign, but I do remember battling Scribble. Wow, that game was played a long time ago.

The main reason I stopped playing was because it took me forever to take my turns. I’m talking a minimum of 1-2 hours, since I micromanaged the planning of battles. I’m sure I’ll play again someday, but those turns burned me out. :-(

And thanks for the compliment, but I’m not so sure I’d kick your tail. :-)

You’re smart and informed, so there!

That was a gracious post. :)

I was in that Mysterio/Scribble game. It was when I learned to fear them both with all of my fear nerves.

I need a permanent sub for Mictlan in the KillScribble game. The nation is in a good position, currently in the top three or four nations. F9W9 bless on Jags and Eagle Warriors. Always a good time.

PM me if you’re interested.
