I’m certainly fine with continuing… I just don’t see anyone other than DFS trying to win anymore… and if he’s the only one trying to win…

…then he really must try better than he has been…

Dom3 was Greenlit by Steam today. Congrats!

Thats pretty great. I hope they’ll be allowed to release Dominions 4 instead of 3 on Steam, considering its coming out in about a month.

The Tour

uhm. Half of us staled. Nobody asked for an extension. Uhm…

I’d like to revisit declaring DFS the winner of The Tour… In the three weeks since I asked last, there is still no one else trying to win… I’m not even entirely convinced DFS is trying to win anymore.

Just fold the game then if no one is interested in playing.

Since no one holds more than one capital, and no one seems interested in playing, I’m against declaring anyone the winner. It’s a pity really, because with 4 nations with over 20k research, this could be a really great finish. Not sure why no one cares…

I’m not getting “postpone for 24 hour” messages. Folks just are not submitting.

…As to me “Trying” to win…if somebody else would like to try and crack Eriu’s capitol…give me a ring.

I have some tricks up my sleeve and have been debating the wisdom of pulling out everything.

I’m not exactly sure why Wahoo vanished. He likes to concede a bit early for my tastes, but that’s a style thing and I don’t believe that’s what has happened here.

I’m not sure exactly what Sharaleo is up to.

We have several large nations with high level research that should be flinging around SC’s and globals at each other. Instead we have a couple of big sweaty guy’s kind of pawing at each other and a bunch of folks hiding behind castles. Frankly, we are so far from our victory conditions that I think anybody could still win. It’s tough to see Eriu coming back from where they are, but I said that before and they came back.

I believe Nate/Austen and Pyrhic have “won” in the sense that my admiration for them has shot up as they continue to play well in very tough straights.

The main reason I never got into multiplayer was people dropping out and losing interest and also they all seemed to want to play with a server which often results in stalled turns and other glitches. I much prefer PBEM (which still doesn’t solve the former problem).

I have to apologize for my stales lately. They are not due to being disinterested. I underestimated the time my current project would take with commissioning happening this week on a 2 year multimillion dollar project (where I am the only programmer) so I haven’t had time for anything other than work. Things should be slowing down this weekend a bit for the rest of the year, though, so I can start putting a lot more time in.

I should be able to get a turn in tonight, but at least starting this weekend I should have no problem putting full effort in again. My decisions may still be questionable ;), but I will at least take the time to do the turns I intend to do.

There has been an epidemic of stales in the tour. In marked contrast to most of the game, I have not received a “delay the game 24 hours” message in some weeks. It is my opinion that the tour has reached a state where we should be having an epic game with multiple nations near the end of the research tree and no nation even close to arriving at victory.

In the belief that the tour is at an interesting point and should not proceed with so many stales, I have unilaterally delayed the tour for 20 days. Hopefully the players can come to some consensus about what to do before that.

As I see it …our options are.

A. Renew interest in the game with all players continuing.
B. Renew interest in the game finding subs for those who are no longer interested.
C. Let the game play out accepting that many nations will be crippled by stales.
D. Declare the game finished with no victor.

It’s up to you guys.

A and B could include new victory conditions.

I very much prefer to not accept D, but I recognize it isn’t fully my choice.

We have put 7 months into the game, It is my opinion that we may be looking at another 7 months before somebody gets to 4 capitols.

Both Man and Caelum have staled three of the last four turns.
Eriu and Ashdod both seem to feel they cannot win but are submitting regular turns.
Pythia explains his last couple of stales above.
As Agartha, I feel I am in the lead, but frankly, it will be a long time before I take a second capitol, let alone four. Using mother oak gems, Eriu is summoning nature beasts which he then mistforms backed by mage support. I’ve tried a couple of things to take them out and ended up with a bloodied nose each time.

So what will it be pretenders?

I went on vacation last week and forgot to tell you. I had a bad stall in August when I remembered telling you I was going on vacation but forgot to tell you to postpone the game. So I’ve stalled a lot.

I don’t have a chance to win and I’m not taking my turns like ashdod, mstly b/c I’m not retaking territory. THat’s b/c my turns aren’t going to vary much. I’m on defense being attacked by 4 players and sitting behind my walls. No reason for me to go on offense. My defenses are scripted ok.

I told Pythium that I wouldn’t and couldn’t stop Agartha. Pythium either has to wipe me out quickly or fight Agartha. There is no reason for me to fight anyone right now. This is a 2 nation game and Pythium is working with Agartha, who is clearly dominant. Unless Pythium turns on Agartha, it’s pointless to go on the offensive from my perspective. I need to hold my castles.

I believe that’s a vote for C. Let the game play out accepting that some nations may be crippled by staling. (or that some nations may stale and not mind!)

So it’s been a couple of days and responses are…half hearted to say the least. Lots of time invested in this game…

Again, As I see it …our options are.

A. Renew interest in the game with all players continuing.
B. Renew interest in the game finding subs for those who are no longer interested.
C. Let the game play out accepting that many nations will be crippled by stales.
D. Declare the game finished with no victor.

A
B
C Man, Caelum
D

Agartha likes A, B and C much more than D.

It’s up to you guys…Eriu? Ashdod? Pythia?

With the imminent release of Dom4, this is likely the last Dom3 game at Qt3. Is it done?

A and B could include new victory conditions.

I guess I should chime in. /sheepishly

This game has been a weird one, that’s for sure. To a certain extent, some blame can be leveled at Caelum and me. Unfortunately, life has massively got in my way of investing as much time into this game as I need to, resulting in lots of stales, lack of communication, me not really maintaining any direction and momentum in game and basically content to turtle. That has essentially left one nation out of the power struggles, which I guess makes it tough for anyone else to get a solid upper hand. This was not my intention, so apologies all!

I am, however, simply amazed that I have more or less been left alone all this time! Like I said, weird game all round.

All that said, I am keen to continue as there has been too much time invested by all, with no clear obvious victor - and there are certainly a lot of toys around that should spice thing up.

My vote is for option C, accompanied by a declaration from Caelum to dissolve all existing NAP-3’s that I may have in place, so I can clearly reassess my position (truth be told I hardly remember what I have in place anyway)!

I’m A then C.

Nah… that’ simple… Why would anyone Pythium you or Caleum? You weren’t doing anything, so were not really a threat. If someone attacks you for the grab, they risk rousing attention and having a real fight on their hands. Ashdod and I haven’t been real contenders for a long time and I was fighting 3v1 already most of the game, so neither of us were going to do it. Man and Agartha were in a pitched battle for a while and neither of them were going to risk drawing another enemy in on themselves…

The Tour

FWIW llamaserver is down so delays would be chancy. At this point, sending in your turn is the only way to be sure.

Ashdod really can’t remember who it has any treaties with at this point and has decided, in the interest of fairness, to cancel them all.

Also, we prefer to be called Honey Ashdod at this point.

Eeep, just don’t come after me with that trampling monstrosity of a prophet you have :P.

It looks like Llamaserver is doing some goofy stuff again, most likely still getting ready for Dom 4. It shows turn number 1.3 billion or something and that we all staled last turn. It only sent me a turn 84 turn file in email, though, so hopefully we are still okay. I do know that when the turn number is screwed up like that it will not accept a turn file which is why I was delayed a day earlier in the week when this happened.
