If people are willing to put up with my schedule quirks, then I’d love to play. And while I know there is no way I could ever be considered a Dom3 noob, I’ve probably played once in the past four years. So I’m not up on the latest Dom3 theories that have been developed with the increase in funding on Dom3 research by the Obama administration.

HAH! I’m challenging you to a Uniwar game due to this insult.
Also, I like the 48 hour no quickhost schedule; it’s working well in the RAND game.
I’d prefer MA or LA and CBM 1.92.
48 hours with no auto-hosting is fantastic for me. I prefer CBM but will play in a regular game, no problems there.
Cool beans. We will wait until tomorrow to see if we can get two more signups (to play two games of five players). If not, we go ahead with 8 and I’ll be asking you all to name a nation for the draft. So far it looks like the Late Age is the most popular. If you have strong preferences in a different direction, now is the time to speak up.

If you get one more, I would be willing to throw my name in for a five player game.
This was the major turning point in Newbies & Sharks! I wonder how things would have panned out differently had BoT not knocked out your own global.

I might be willing the 10th to inflict you on the other players and on the condition you and I are in separate games ;)
However, if somebody else is interested, happy to let them be 10th.
48h hosting (I.e 2 evenings to run a turn) would work for me.

So, two groups of five, then. How shall we determine who plays whom?

Grarg I’d love to sign up but my work schedule has me away 5 days every week and I have no laptop. See you all in what’s a usual game last, 5-6 mo?

The last game that just finished up almost took a year.
Oops, stale turn. That kind of hurts!

I’m fine with Conceptual Balance, and I have no preference for how games are set up, who plays whom, early/middle/late, or when I choose a nation.
Stop being so nitpicky already :)

I got home and re-installed Dom3 from the original CD, then downloaded the 3.27 patch and the CBM, and fired it up. Just the opening music made me feel giddy. Then I made a Gath pretender and loaded the Aran map in s/p. How is this not the best video game ever made?

It’s been the center of my existence ever since Bowyer showed me the manual. That’s what made me buy the game. You just have to love the ridiculous depth. There are too many permutations and combinations that can be tried with all the nations and pretenders available, not to mention the strategies that can be employed. Plus, thinking about the design of the pretender and how to work that with a nation’s strengths (or shoring up their weaknesses) can take up endless hours. Discussing the design of pretenders and the implementation of strategy is just about as fun as playing the game itself.
I can’t wait to get assigned a nation!
