Sorry to ruin it, but I’ve seen it twice and now I’m kind of hankering to see it again. I was rooting so hard for Vinterberg to take Best Director that year…not that there was much chance, but he deserved it. And it’s probably the best screen performance from Mads Mikkelsen from any actor that year, or the year’s either side of it, even. Just brilliant.
I think you’re right, incidentally. It is his best film so far, though The Hunt (and even Festen) are very close.
