Age of Empires III?

Uplink.

I like this guess.

Snake

Nope. I’ll add a bit more. Just a tiny bit, but perhaps it’s enough?

SWOS (Sensible World of Soccer). Hopefully I’m not required to guess which specific version :)

I hope it’s SWOS. That’s one of my favourite games ever, and the 360 version makes me both angry and joyous to think about.

also: I was totally going to do SWOS for one of these, but I thought the pitch would be too recognisable.

Well done!

It is indeed Sensible World of Soccer (96/97), and it’s also one of my favourite games of all time. I honestly believe the modern, fancy soccergames don’t even come close to this one in terms of atmosphere, playability and plain fun!

Are you sure it’s 96/97? I thought that had orange buttons. (I was thinking the pixels that made up the S were actually one of the orange buttons)

I don’t have any amiga versions handy (RIP), but all of them on Lemon (bar one) have screenshots of the menu, and it’s always orange.

My GOG version for 96/97 has orange buttons.

I can’t find any source of the completely green menu. Just this same random image. Did you take this one yourself?

Annoyingly, this video on youtube has for it’s thumbnail the image you used, but it clearly shows the newer menu. So I think it’s the first version of the PC one?

I suspect it might be the demo for 1.0 or something.

Anyhow, rather than spend time finding a specific version of a game most of the forum probably have never heard of because they live on the wrong continent…

Well, I used to play that version on the pc, but lost the copy long ago, so had to take a screen from Google, and the green bars did fit my memory, so I assumed it was 96/97. But I may very well be mistaken!

Good to hear it’s on GOG, definitely going to take a look! Is it still fun to play these days? I specifically miss the career mode, where you would get offers from bigger clubs with bigger budgets each year, something the FIFA’s and PES’s of today still don’t have (as far as I know anyway)… As for the new screeny: Super Mario?

Worms Armageddon?

I did some more research, and it’s a leak of SWOS v0.9! (Possibly also the demo uses it)

SWOS is always fun :)

The GOG version is the PC version of 96/97. I didn’t manage to get it to work properly with a control pad, and just resorted to Joy2Key or using the keyboard, both of which are a hassle. But it works just fine and the game is completely playable that way. Never tried local multiplayer with it.

The 360 version is a spruced up version of 96/97, and it works just fine as a complete clone of the original. With the exception of scrambling all of the player names (grr) it is, a complete clone with nice looking HD art. I basically bought a 360 to play the game online with other people, which turned out not to work >:( The netcode is also terrible so it’s impossible to play online with it and they put no effort in there – there’s no ability to talk, from what I remember, and both people can move the cursor on the menus. (And they didn’t even add wrapping to the menus!) No patch was ever made to fix it. Local works fine and is fun, however. I quite like using the 360 pads to play.

You can also get “mega packs” from the communtiy that basically take the old dos or amiga version, wrap it in a bunch of stuff, add lots of things to sort out your keyboard/joysticks etc and allow you to play seamlessly online. Though I’ve not played anyone online with it, just done normal local play.

Cook Serve Delicious?

Well that saves me having to do this at work tomorrow :)

I thought the rat + bag was the least identifiable part, as I imagine most people look at the image or the key bit.

I’ve seen that bag way too often on the ipad to forget it! I did think that was a bathtub in the first image though. Will put one up in a bit.

CSD was a fun game, but I never got very far in it on PC, is it better on tablet?

Not sure as I never tried the PC version. Probably a lot different experience I’m guessing as the ipad version was all ‘swipe here, swipe there, push this’ - what a crazy game. I think I made it to 2 or 3 stars but someday I plan to go back and finish up! So hectic though - the more complicated recipes really wore me out.

Here’s the first shot - I don’t expect this to go too far if you’ve played it. But who knows? One of my early favorites:

Cat and Mouse!?

American McGee’s Alice?

Nope! Interesting, but nope! Hint: this game came out slightly before Jennifer Lawrence and Predator 2.
