Nice guess, but no.

Man, I really should go back, replay, and actually finish Betrayal At Krondor some day. It’s one of my big “unfinished business” sort of games from decades ago. Still have the manual, but not the disks and box. I know it went freeware a while back. Plus I think it’s on GOG now. Hrm. Yes, I need to play that.

I always figured it was just a matter of time before someone posts an image that a developer here actually had a hand in creating in the past and would get it right away. I guess not this time, though :).

You know, it’s funny, it was actually this thread that made me go back and revisit Lands of Lore 1. I had guessed it (or considered guessing it, then looked it up and knew I was wrong?) for a game earlier in this thread somewhere. I was wrong, but just thinking of that game and seeing screenshots of it made me want to experience it again.

Oh, and that bottom of the scroll, which is always part of the interface (it’s your spellbook), is very distinctive.

Yeah I was going for small but distinctive in that first clue. Lands of Lore is one of my favorite older games. Finding a screenshot makes me want to play it again.

Only one guess so far, but I realize it’s a vague screenshot so I’m going to post the second already since I won’t be able to post another until later tonight.

UnEpic?

It is on GoG. I too need to finish it someday. I still have my save files from the 90s! Of course, they’re on floppies, but still…

I can determine nothing from that picture. Not perspective, not age.

ToME?

Heroes of Might & Magic, say, 3?

Yeah, expanding that did 0 for helping me identify it. I hope your next screenshot isn’t FOUR boxes stacked on each other. :)

Given the absurd things that people have guessed correctly, I’d say that 4 boxes would probably seal it ;)

It looks like a book in a library I saw in some game. I guessed Heroes of Might & Magic 3, but it could be something like Lords of Magic or some other similar game. I can be completely wrong though.

I’m going with some kind of gridded inventory, such as often found in Diablo type games.

Heh that’s happened a couple of times for me, so I’ve made sure NOT to “guess” in those instances. Would have felt like cheating.

tylertoo: Man, I wish I had my saves. Then again, I’ve probably forgotten a lot of it since then and should start over anyways. Onto the game!

Nope to all those guesses. Here’s another bit. And I’ll be nice and tell you those “boxes” are a door.

Daggerfall?

Might & Magic 6.

Uru: Ages Beyond Myst?

Nope, nope, and nope.

Hmm the flat perspective makes me think this may be a side scroller or something.
