Amalur of Reckoning: Kingdoms

Nope, it’s not Amalur, though I guess I should go with that here at some point, since I really liked it :)

Guild Wars 2? I can’t remember much, since I only played it back in the beta, but the grass sorta looks familiar.

Given rhamorim’s hint, I’m going to guess that Otagan is right as to the IP, and now someone simply has to select the proper entry in whatever series that is (I’ve never heard of it).

grin I think I know the answer here, I’m just not wanting to get a frame

Actually I’ll PM him about it, I don’t really want to come up with another screen at the moment.

Not quite. He said it looked like a Compile Heart game, and that particular dev has actually multiple IPs, some well known, some not as well known. But keep in mind that games from other devs may look similar, so I’m neither confirming nor denying it. ;)

looks to see who Compile Heart is

Oh, yeah. No wonder I didn’t know the name.

It’s not Guild Wars 2, and Guild Wars 2 was actually featured already in this game. I remember because it was also the first time I guessed correctly. ;)

Ok, time to make this easier.

Uh… define “easy”. It’s clearly some sort of JRPG, but I’ll be damned if it looks very familiar at all. It’s not a Tales of… game, nor a Xenoblade Chronicles or definitely a Final Fantasy game. I don’t remember some of the jrpg games I played that aren’t the above looking this “modern” and those look like 360 controller button prompts. I got nothing.

There is something very important on the left side of the screen. You may notice a repeating pattern of 4, so a team based JRPG with 3 team members. One of whom has pink hair.

I don’t know the answer (turns out I was wrong earlier), and I’m passing on guessing this one. But I’ll give you what I can to push the right direction.

Those are indeed 360 controller button prompts, but I was playing that one on my PC. With a 360 controller.

Also note the attack ability is greyed out. That’s probably important.

It’s greyed out because the enemy is out of range, as you’ll probably see in the next frame, which I should post before I go to bed. ;)

I figured that. The circles definitely indicate this is a game where movement and positioning are important. So naturally attack range would be relevant. But since it isn’t a Tales, Final Fantasy, or Hyperdimension Neptunia (which is wrong, but I know you’ve played) I got nothing!

Is this the game you were talking about recently where you were like “I want this turn-based combat system in every game!” and I eagerly went to check it out only to realize it was a JRPG from 15 years ago or something? :)

No, that was Grandia II, and it’s awesome no matter the age. ;-)

Ok, next frame. Enemies! Protagonists! And the circles will make a bit more sense!

Fairy Fencer F? 90% sure I’m right. Christ, could you have chosen a more obscure game? Heh. I KNEW I had seen it before, but definitely not played it. I remembered a video showing a clip of it on a channel I’m subscribed to on youtube about it coming out in English. It was seemingly forever ago. I spent about 25 minutes trying to find that video. Finally did. Is that cheating? Hrm.

Yes you’re right.
