Okay, last chance. If it helps, the UI in the bottom right from the very first shot hints at the platform for this game. And is that our character to the left of the center cross hairs? Why aren’t they on the ground?

I think I know what this is, but just took a turn, so I’ll give the group a chance. I’m almost sure I recognize the UI elements, even though I didn’t play it myself.
Crap, now I recognize it, but I don’t have the time to post a shot, so I too will have to pass.
So far the only people that know it don’t want to/don’t have anything ready to share next. Is this thread dying, or did I really just pick something obscure? Scott, you might have to go again…
Don’t suppose it’s Bayonetta?
Is the ellipsis a dramatic pause?
We have a winner!
So yeah, I don’t know what made me think of this game recently. But my thoughts on the screenshots were that the UI in the bottom right might give away that it was an Xbox game, since many games around that time mapped the button colors and layout to corresponding elements in the game interface.
I thought that second totally unhelpful screenshot might give you an idea of the lower texture detail to further help date the game, but that was probably a lot to assume. The bugs were good because hey, maybe you’ll recognize them, but they’re pretty generic so they’re not a dead giveaway.
The left UI is probably more memorable in motion, with the gauge around the circle constantly filling and depleting as you combo and jet around the level. Before I looked up the screenshot, I couldn’t have described how vaguely steam-punk/Bioshock looking the details on it were, but the general shape and movement of that thing was memorable to me.
And then I was trying to show that the main character (what was her name?) was airborne, but I don’t know if that’s clear till the final shot exactly what the position was.
Anyway, crazy hard game.

I think it was an inspired pick. Definitely easier than some of the more obscure stuff that’s been featured before! Here is one that should be fairly easy to those who enjoy this kind of thing. Your first though when seeing this first piece might be to page Mr. Rubin, but in fact I’m not really sure this is his jam*.
*Of course it probably is, since it’s an awesome game and I believe people quite enjoyed it and continue to do so.
Where in the Nebula is Carmen Sandiego?
Okay, close enough to the 24 hour mark, let’s get this show moving again. Shot number 2!
Heh, that’s kind of a cool guess, but it’s not correct.
That’s really familiar, but I still can’t remember what it is.
