No idea where else I’ve seen it. The square three from the left and four down is very familiar.

Yeah same here. I think it was part of someone’s avatar at some point here or on another forum.

Super Robot Wars? Not sure which one in the series though.

Yes, yes… It’s not quite

…or…

… but Super Robot Wars Z3.1 Jigoku-Hen (that is, it’s the first installment of the third part of the Z series -Z2 and Z3 were divided in two long games each-).

This is the full screenshot:

So… Why dis I chose this? First of all the games are incredibly popular, with 43 games in the franchise in the SRPG genre -counting Z2 and Z3 as one game, this is more like 47 releases- plus several others non-SRPG spinoffs.

The games have also not been translated for the most part, because the mix and match several different anime robot series in some sort of absurd plot. Since licenses overseas of those series are hard to unite, they remain in Japan, except for the OG (original generation) games that has robots created specifically for the games. Thus you need a translated manual and plot to enjoy these. Thankfully the community provides.

These are pretty system heavy SRPG, with the definite ability to break the games if you know what you are doing (like Disgaea) and featuring several non-compatible paths in each playthrough (where different robots from different series join your team). The Z games (each) has around 60 stages, with about half of them being divided in 2 or 3 paths, so more like around 100 different stages. In the Z series robots fight in pairs, with main and support attacks (and you can change the pairs to create synergies, upgrade your units… etc…) and it’s overall pretty hardcore.

Oh… and it’s a Fire Emblem-like SRPG in terms of map representation, except that when you attack, it looks like this(check this link, it’s the different attacks of a single unit in the game. You can or course, speed up and skip these, should you want to).

But yeah, seems not that a popular series over here. At least I didn’t go with Shin Gihren no Yabou… :P

Take it shang!

Our great struggle has ended!

Well, you guys are in for it if I win again, my next pick will be some sort of horse dating sim, just you wait.

Of all the robots, you guys recognize the blue one?!? I not only not recognize it, it doesn’t even look Japanese. I think it’s Starro from DC (or was it Marvel)?

The first thing I recognize is Getter Robo G (the red head with yellow eyes). My favourite giant robot from my kids days.

Mazinger is in there… You guys had NO CHILDHOOD!!!

Sorry, it has been a busy week. I’ll post a new screenshot either tonight or tomorrow.

Just wanted to note that I showed some of those screenshots to my SRW-fanatic friend and he was able to guess the exact game from the third screenshot.

I repent! I repent!

Broken Age?

Oddworld: New and Tasty?

It’s not Broken Age or Oddworld.

Stardrive 2?

Stardrive 1, I think… or not?

Oh, sure, just sweep in and ride my coattails. You’re like that guy who bids $1 more on the Price is Right ;)

Just surfin’ the waves, pal. Just surfin’.

It’s not Star Drive.
