Is that one of the Ultima games?

Definitely think it is from same time frame as Ultima 3-5, but the trees don’t seem right.
As to what it is? That I’d be hard pressed to guess. SO, knowing this is wrong, Wizardry 5.

It’s close to the Realistic Forests mod for Skyrim…close!
Wow, that looks really familiar, but I can’t remember what it is.

I was thinking maybe Phantasie III or something, but the two character picture thing is throwing me off.

Random guess: Mail order Monsters, the part where you are on the big map walking your monster around.
My failure to play more than 10 games in the '90s and to exist in the '80s is proving to be real a hindrance in this game.

This game existed before you! Damn, that’s scary…it was the very first game I bought - from that Silicone Express mail order place. Does anyone have any idea what I’m talking about? I just remember it was a mailer that you’d get, it’d have a bunch (well a bunch for the 80s) of game names on it, no descriptions, just the price.
Will post image 2 soon - figured you’d get it before I left work so I need to grab the screens off my work PC.
Paul Quest?
The little sprite guys seem somewhat familiar, but I wasn’t really playing CRPGs in this era.

One of those games with the dev’s name in the background. Though I have no idea who Paul is.
I am at a loss though. I didn’t get a computer at home until around 92 or so, and that was a used Apple ][e. I also played like 3 games on it. Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Oregon Trail, and some game involving a train that escapes me now. So I’ve got nothing.
This is so frustrating. I’m absolutely sure I played that game, because it is extremely familiar, but I can’t remember its name or even what kind of game it was. Gaaaah!

Yeah, got to love the early easter eggs like that! My first PC was an XT clone, CGA amber color monitor, & 4.77mhz that my dad bought. I went with the double floppy drive instead of a tiny HD, thinking that made more sense. It took a couple minutes to load one of those Gold Box combats, great times. One day someone showed me that if I held down alt-ctrl-minus it would put the thing into turbo mode (8.0mhz!!!) which was insane.
Hmm, the only Paul I can think of is Paul Reiche III but that doesn’t look like any of his games.
Kinda stumped. Definitely not an Ultima, not a Phantasie.
Random guess: Shard of Spring.
Man, that looks really familiar, the little two character party icon…
It’s not from the Phantasie series, I know that much. I know I played this though, probably around the same time on my Atari 800XL. I played damn near every CRPG from the 80’s though…

Here’s #3 - this one would likely give it away if you’ve played it (I think…maybe I’m overestimating its popularity!):

It hit me a few minutes after I posted and walked away from my PC at work (before you posted the new pic above). It’s Wizard’s Crown isn’t it?
It looks like a SSI game for sure. I couldn’t place it, though.

Indeed it is! One of my early favorites though I never did play the sequel as it didn’t come out on PC. Here’s the full shot:
