It’s not just the crazies they rile up - they get the middle and center-leaning within the party riled up by blaming everything they’ve done on Obama and therefore on whichever Democrat is running against them. And it works because of Gerrymandering and partisan think tanks that put out flawed studies so the media can “balance” their coverage. Because balance means presenting one study that agrees with each political party, as opposed presenting studies that represent the mid-point of existing research or, god forbid, covering enough of the actual research to give people a sense of what evidence we really have one way or the other.

There is basically unlimited for the fall parody videos about Trump.
They won’t totally be able to constrain the fire hose, but the campaign team now has Ailes, Hannity, etc, as experts on attacking Clinton 24x7, so that is becoming the consistent and effective part of the messaging now.

As a moderate in California I think that way about the democrats. They control the state, and they propose some of the most insane legislation. However, if I move from here my first option is a state that is probably at least as liberal, although possibly not as activist, Oregon.

So true! I grew up in Utah and was a pinko commie bastard but when I moved to Ottawa for a few years people acted like I was some crazy right-winger. Now that I’m back in Utah, I’m once more in my comfortable position of being a deranged and delusional liberal. I love how that word is said in such disgust around here too. :)

Literally anyone who is capable of supporting Trump when he puts out those tweets after the campaign he’s run so far is either almost-certainly mentally deficit or comic-book-villain evil themselves, full-stop. The sheer lack of self-awareness, nuance, or anything approaching human decency that guy manages to vomit into society 24/7 is astonishing.

Armando, I think you underestimate the sheer number of people who get all their news from Fox or other inside-the-bubble outlets. Trump looks very different if you’re insulated from any facts contrary to your opinions.
Low information voters aren’t necessarily stupid or evil. They can also be people who just don’t devote much time or effort to learning about politics or elections.
