At least you all got to see the Cubs win before Chicago is turned into our very own Aleppo. :(

I’ll be your front line reporter.
It’s the same way with St. Louis, but the numbers are even more magnified since the city population has shrunk so much, under 400,000 in the city. Most of the violence is on the North side and is drug-related. Just a lot of shootings over turf it seems.
The metro St. Louis population is over 3M but when you do the per capita based on under half a million, the rates look really, really bad.

Honestly, just laughing when they say shit like this is possibly the best path forward. Bullies hate being laughed at. I can see the CNN reporters just cracking up at press conferences and it having far more impact than attempting a factual rebuttal. Stop treating the garbage that’s being spouted as anything but garbage.
You remember it was Trump who joshed about a Second Amendment solution for HRC, right? Though I suppose a Michelle Obama quote might be an appropriate response. You know the one.
They should put one of those Comedy Store brick walls behind Spicer when he addresses the press.

Wonder if any liberals will come around on the 2nd Amendment when the army and secret police start rounding people up in major liberal cities.
Because my pistol is going safeguard me from the army and secret police?

“End Sanctuary Cities”. Hmm. Carpet bombing, maybe?
Also, “Identify criminal aliens”.

Not with THAT attitude it won’t.
Remember, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. –Wayne Gretzky”
Also, was “Sanctuary City” something from “Logan’s Run”? Sounds like it.
That’s precisely why not to do it, as your subsequent Michelle reference hints at.
Yes, now that you remind me I recall him saying that. And I recall, immediately, how abhorrent a comment it was. And how he was taken to task by decent people on all sides. You’re right in the implication that there is a sort of karma to people making jokes about violence at his expense now. I just can’t countenance it. I’m not setting my bar at Trump’s level, which, as I’ve said before, is subterranean.
All due respect to Michelle Obama, but I always cringed when I heard that quote. I really do love her, and wish she were our president now, fwiw, but that quote…ugh. It sounded mamby-pamby the first time I heard it and it grated on me no matter who said it. It was equal parts smug and meek, and as it turns out, “going high” doesn’t win you an election. Going low, apparently, does. Big surprise, huh?
That doesn’t mean I believe in a tit-for-tat. I think that’s a mistake. As I heard on my favorite podcast this morning, every stupid thing Trump does–current claims about millions of illegitimate votes comes to mind–is him standing in the front of the store creating a distraction while his crew is taking out the safe in the back of the store. He’s a carnival barker, and we’re too dumb to figure that out.
So I agree we don’t just go high. He needs to be dragged through the sewer he is creating, but shaming a man who has no shame is rather pointless in the long view, isn’t it? Embarrassing him is fine, as far as that goes. He’s a fragile flower in that regard. But what good does it do us? We need some other strategy.
I just vehemently disagree that making jokes about assassination is the answer to this, because I find that reprehensible. Not because I care about his life necessarily, but because I care about our country.

Well, Gordon said it with far more economy.

My least favorite thing on CNN is a commercial they’ve been playing a lot for one of their own documentaries that includes a quote from Jeb Bush during the primaries.
It makes me cringe every time, because apparently you can do exactly that.
I think it’s a noble ambition, but hopelessly impractical under the circumstances.
This seems likely.
I don’t think Trump can be beaten by a groundswell of Democrat/liberal discourse, it’ll take the alt Right to fall apart, much as the Tea Party did.
If you join the NRA you get a magic pistol.
I agree. The idea the 2nd Amendment is meant to safeguard us against the government is 1) probably an incorrect interpretation of it, and if it is correct then 2) hopelessly outdated.
