It is amazing to me that Twitter still hasn’t figured out a way to make money. If they can’t capitalize on the current situation, then they are doomed.

I read in a CBS story this morning that the wall low-side cost estimate is $25 billion (and that it’s likely more in the $50+ billion that you mention. Given the current per-mile cost that the government is paying for roads, they could build a 2x2 highway from Seattle to Miami for the same $25 billion price, which includes all the necessary bridging and such.

So the GOP pushed against every infrastructure project that Obama tried to get approved because of “budget reasons”. But they are going to green-light a ridiculous wall that will do nothing when that money can make a hell of a dent in the infrastructure holes we have? It’s sad

I can’t believe how much I hate our new Federal overlords.

Someone should remind Trump that China was a big wall, the greatest wall. The United States only has a river, and there’s hardly any water in it and doesn’t even cover half the border. Sad.

In a spontaneous outpouring of affection for the Great Helmsman of our Nation, the Old State Department Library in the Executive Office Building is now displaying his thoughts and wisdom in a prominent place:

It’s going to be awesome as the stories of all the undocumented workers who are employed to work on the wall are rolled out.

Perhaps Trump is an RTS player and thinks building a wall is done by simply pointing and clicking.

If you thought the flaw in the Death Star was bad, wait til you see what the builders do to the wall.

Yep, given this is all going to be subcontracted out to super-shady Trump-connected companies, that’s a given.

I just Reported this post

I believe is a personal attack against Chelsea Manning and Barack Obama.

Here you go friends. This Twitter account appeared and disappeared this week. You decide if it’s real.

Impossible to tell, but it’s certainly plausible. I can’t imagine a sane person who actually cares about people and our country not being demoralized by Trump.

It’s also tough to imagine a White House staffer - inhabiting one of the most desirable jobs in the 20-something GOP firmament - would so something so suicidal on his first week on the job.

I mean, not “impossible” hard, but still tough.

If s/he thinks that serving in a tire-fire Trump administration is career poison anyway, fuck it, why not?

Or maybe s/he cares about his/her country and doesn’t want to see…this…happen to it.

The parts that aren’t strict reporting scream of “I can’t believe he’s who he showed us he was for the past year!”

As much as I’d like to think that, the “I’m not on your team” remark leaves me skeptical.

At least CNN is calling it a tax…

By “with the nation” you mean that he might have been more in tune with the states where he crushed Hillary? So, like, Utah, Idaho, and Washington? Or maybe because he got a few more votes in WI and MI, he would have flipped those states… except for the part where he did worse in PA, OH, FL, VA, NV, NC, and IA, and even if we, for whatever reason, grant him Hillary’s results in those states, flipping WI and MI isn’t enough to win.

If it was a public works project of some merit, we probably would let it slide, even though we are moving into an economy where the value of deficit-funded job creation is a lot worse than when we wanted actual public works back in 2009. This, though, is worse than paying people to bury cash so that companies can go dig the cash back up. It is worse because it will funnel the money to specific “winners” (funny how the GOP doesn’t mind that when they are in charge), harm the economy directly through reduced movement across the border, harm the environment, and provide an ongoing cost in maintenance to achieve a primarily racist goal. Not to mention harming relations with a neighboring country. It is a complete disaster of a policy in every possible sense: it will cost a vast amount of money, have large negative side effects, small positive side effect, and do little to nothing to accomplish its primary goal.

Not just CNN, all the major networks.

Even Fox.

Ever Spicer himself. Three times. In the same sentence.

This is my biggest problem with it. Border security is all well and good, but making the centerpiece of his campaign “build a giant wall to keep the mexicans out” when there are real problems to deal with is not only idiotic but just reminds us that he campaigned on sheer xenophobia and nativism.

So you mean, it’s a more accurate way to assess performance and come up with improvements?

While I do expect more, this was also caused by an executive order, not just Twitter.
