At least with the Peyton Manning comparison we now understand why he was so upset about the inauguration attendance estimates: he’s completely incapable of judging the size of a crowd. He looks out at some folks gathered in the CIA and thinks it’s the same amount as a football stadium.
The thing you need to remember about Trump is that he’s about four years old.
He’s always been this way. He just used to be better at covering it up before because people didn’t expect him to talk all the time. Now the press lets him go on and on, and it makes it clear he can’t string two sentences together, talks about nothing but himself, and has the attention span of a gnat.

Yup:
During his presidential candidacy, Donald Trump got caught in an ugly lie: the Republican falsely claimed to have seen “thousands” of American Muslims celebrating the night of the 9/11 attacks. When Serge Kovaleski, a reporter with a physical disability, noted the truth, Trump attacked him by mocking the journalist and his condition.
Pressed for some kind of defense for his bizarre behavior, Trump said his offensive imitation of Kovaleski was simply intended to show the reporter “groveling.” That didn’t make any sense – at no point did Kovaleski grovel towards anyone – which created an unfortunate situation in which Trump was caught lying about a lie.
Yesterday, Trump used “groveling” again in a way that suggests he simply doesn’t know what it means. The president talked to ABC News’ David Muir, who asked about Trump’s baseless claims about voter fraud, and the fact that all of Trump’s evidence has been discredited. It led to this amazing exchange:
TRUMP:. Take a look at the Pew reports.
MUIR: I called the author of the Pew report last night. And he told me that they found no evidence of voter fraud.
TRUMP: Really? Then why did he write the report?
When the reporter patiently tried to explain that the report in question found no evidence of fraud, Trump said the author of the report, David Becker, is “groveling again.”
He knows the best words. In that he’s heard them used by other people. He sure doesn’t know what those best words actually mean. Because he’s a fucking idiot.

“And now that he has been elected, Trump wants absolute control over the flow of information, to dictate his own version of facts rather than live with the reality of accepted facts. Trump is in a battle to bend the truth to his benefit.”
I think it’s a combination of being a pathological narcissist that’s never faced scrutiny and criticism at this level and old age/onset of dementia.
Which is certainly a fun combination to give the nuclear codes to.

I believe he prefers the term “snowflake”.
Here is my issue with the media’s treatment of the 20% tax on Mexican imports : In every story, even the ones where they call it a “tax”, the way it’s worded still makes it sound like it’s a penalty on Mexico and is being paid by Mexico. Average Americans hear “20% import tax” and think “oh, Mexico won’t like that”, Trumpists hear “20% import tax” and think “fuck yeah, Trump is sticking it to the Mexicans and they’re going to pay for the wall!”.
What America needs to hear is “20% increase in the COST TO YOU of a whole bunch of things”, and they will instantly understand that an import tariff/tax isn’t money being collected from another country, it’s money being collected from Americans (who are then paying for The Wall).
Thank you! This has been bothering me too.
NPR has been characterizing it correctly.

Anyway, the administration is already walking this 20% tariff back. It’s now being characterized as “one of a number” of plans they’re considering. Word is that manufacturing folks rightly hit up their GOP reps and said “WTF?”

If they would correctly call it a “20% Sales Tax”, the wall talk would already be dead. They also need to emphasize that Mexico is sure to retaliate, which means the #2 consumer of exported American grain will likely implement a 20% tariff on grain imports. That will cause a shift to non-U.S. grain purchases, causing a plummet in American grain prices which either need to 1) be propped up by tax dollars or 2) allow a whole lot of farmers to go bankrupt. (over-simplification, but these kinds of complex interactions need consumable summaries when communicated to Trump supporters)
I wonder how those Simpson writers would have reacted if you revealed that in the near future we would actually elect Homer:
“We should get rid of the electoral college”
“But Mr President, you would have lost without the Electoral college”
“Those were illegal votes anyway”
Heh, talking about eliminating the Electoral College is one of the few things that would get the GOP to 25th Amendment his ass.
I’m wondering what’s making to believe that there are any Republicans left with the courage to stand up to Trump.

Heck, Feinstein and Schumer have so far voted yes on all four Cabinet appointments. It’s not just the GOP who lacks courage to stand up to Trump.

Feinstein is an 83yo useless piece of crap running out the last two years of her career.
