The proof is in his own words. He is consistently publicly trying to make people believe that the media is not to be trusted and even when he and his team is caught blatantly lying he still insists that everyone else is fake news and we should only trust information from his administration.
He is also very explicit about trying to not only claim that there’s massive voter fraud but that it’s only voter fraud against him (claiming no illegal votes were done for him, which is also provably false even before the election was finished).
His whole game right now this early on is to completely delegitimize any outside sources of information and delegitimize the democracy we have by trying to make everyone believe that voting is a sham. Those are very very real, clear, and provable ways in which a dictator or fascist rises to power and if done enough he can motivate people very much so to fight against and deligitimize congress as well. He also gets to appoint new supreme court judges that agree with him.
This is bullshit and you know it. If it was “prudent and practical measures” then it would also include the ban of nations that have actually perpetrated attacks against Americans. You know like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt (you know, the country of citizenship for the 9/11 bombers). Hell let’s look at the other massive acts of murder on American soil such as the San Bernandino shooter or the Orlando shooting, all of which were done by pure breed Americans. Or let’s take that guy who tried to put that bomb in the truck in Times Square last year, who was an American citizen but born in Pakistan (which isn’t one of the banned countries). The Nice truck attack in France was done by a Tunisian, which again isn’t a banned country.\
Want me to go on? Even Afghanistan doesn’t seem to be on the banned list for christ sake.
There’s also the fact he has explicitly said that being Christian will allow you to be admitted to the US.
And while I can’t find the exact statistic I heard the other day, Syrian refugees have the highest rate of starting their own legal business when coming to America, even more so than people born here (admittedly that will probably fall as more come due to the nature of late refugees).
So there’s nothing legal or practical about this. It’s all based on selective Xenophobia that is not based on real life statistics. It’s nothing but utter and complete bullshit.
He’s history’s greatest monster!
You imply Trump is riding a wave of popularity all the time when you say goofy things like, “Making fun of Trump isn’t ‘working’” when again, making fun of Trump has helped turn him into the most unpopular new President since polls began.
The small grain of truth in your posts is that making fun of Trump by itself won’t win elections. That much is correct: come election time there needs to be a carrot as well as a stick. The 2018 elections need to be about more than “Donnie is an asshole” and have a positive message that will resonate with some of the people who voted for Trump, giving them something to vote for and not merely against.
Right now, though, that doesn’t matter. Bernie Sanders or whoever could be out there radiating positive messages and proposing policies carefully tailored to appeal to Trump supporters - hell, they could be promising each and every Trump supporter their own vacation home and blow jobs for life. It wouldn’t matter, because the timing is all wrong. The next election is 22 months away, and right this minute no one is paying attention to anything but what Lord Trump is doing.
That’s why reminding the public of what they already know in their hearts - that Trump is an unpopular, unstable, egomaniacal, corrupt asshole whose only concern is Donald J Trump - is the best play for now. Drive down his approval rating. Then you switch to the carrot when the carrot is relevant, at election time.
Right or wrong, there’s a concrete strategy and a timeline. You, on the other hand, seem to argue that Trump opponents should do the following:
- blame themselves for being pathetic losers,
- engage in paralyzing agonies of self-doubt,
- abandon their core principles,
- leave Trump alone!!!
- appeal to Trump supporters by doing … something. But, oddly, this magic something that will attract Trump supporters like flies to honey never gets described or discussed in any detail. Probably because those policies are more like “RoyalWe”'s than anything you’d admit to yourself.
It’s almost as if you’re way more interested getting us to engage in steps 1-4 than actually talking about political strategy and tactics. But of course, you’re the one who chose your forum name.

In general (but not absolutely), I am fiscally conservative and progressive socially. I do not believe in “world governance” and I do believe in every nation and its government to be in service of its people. Gay, straight, bi, black, white, green, Christian, Muslim, Church of the Subgenius – I don’t care unless you are infringing upon the rights of others. The United States government and its Constitution is for its citizens. Not those who live in Syria or any other country. There are indeed inalienable rights for all men (and women), but the United States should be able to protect itself and its citizenry above all else by vetting those from hostile regions who associate with specific religions shown to have proclivity to want to kill Americans.
The poll conducted right after Trump took office showed his approval rating at 40%. It was also shown to be guilty of the same over-sampling that was used to warp poll results during the campaign. My point being that if the media wants people to believe them, then cut the bullshit and stop playing sides.
But Trump is not doing this. Countries where the terrorists who actually killed Americans in American soil are from have not been banned.

His intent is to stop terrorism on American soil in the future which means predicting commonalities of regions and religions that may pose a threat. Note that I said ‘may’. I am perfectly okay with that because people of other nations have no right to immigrate to the United States. Saying ‘no’ to a non-citizen for whatever reason we deem is both legal and morally okay if we are protecting citizenry. You don’t invite the wolf into the hen house. If the would-be immigrants or left-leaning Americans are offended by this, then they can continue to be offended.
Why are we not building a wall along the Canadian border as well?

The problem is that it might not be, specially on the legal front. But whatever. I guess if he can have alternative facts he can also have alternative laws.

What a crock of shit. This country was built from immigrants. We are ALL immigrants.

Because the take-home message from 2016 is that you can’t win the presidency by constantly making ludicrous accusations against your opponents.

I know this was entirely rhetorical, but I think we all know the answer is because they’re a “white” country. If we were truly worried about border security and preventing dangerous people from entering the country, we’d be investing in intelligence gathering and building relationships with other countries, not building a silly wall.
This wall is to give the appearance of keeping out the rapist Mexicans. Good white Canadians don’t rape our women, they just seduce us all with provincially accented pillow talk and maple syrup.

Seeing people in my timeline freaking out as friends and family with green cards, permanent residents with kids, pets, homes, careers, can’t leave the country and in some places happened to caught outside the country and can’t come back. What a travesty. Anyone who has an Iranian Visa, doesn’t even matter if they were born in France or whatever? WTF???
If you don’t understand what oversampling is, then just say so.
I would also submit that the polling during the campaign was fairly accurate, and Trump was an underdog but had a significant chance of winning.

Pew Research suggests the majority of illegal immigrants come from the Mexican border, but I like the way you think.

Of course we (almost) all are. At the time America welcomed everyone. That is not the current policy and again, it is not a right of someone to be able to immigrate just because they want to. We admit people under certain circumstances.
I wonder if the Native Americans would have erected some kind of barrier to keep Europeans out of North America if they could go back and do it over again.

I assume other people here know what it is. If that’s not the case, then I guess I expect too much and can adjust my posts moving forward.
