To be fair, I know that there are plenty of Military people who are really not big fans of Trump.

That’s good to hear. Because my Texan military-affiliated friends are all pro-Trump. Hopefully people actually pay attention to crap like this.

I think it is probably a majority of people in the military that support Trump, but there are definitely people that I know, that really dislike bad policy, and Trump is the king of that.

Also, the Military people I know REALLY hate Russia, and the president’s being cozy with Russians does not go over well at all.

I have a couple of buddies still in the military and a great many more retired. It’s an even split among them over Trump. Some think he’s an idiot, and some think he’s going to be good for the country.

But even the ones that are pro-Trump acknowledge that he’s not very good at being a statesman. They do like that he’s gung-ho for the military budget.

I used to do some work with families in the 18th Airborne corps around the time of Desert Storm. If Trump were to get us involved in a nonsensical military action, that opinion will change in a hurry. When your loved ones start getting deployed on an action you don’t believe in, it has a tendency to change one’s perspective.

He cannot and refuses to take responsibility. After the raid, nothing but praise for himself. Now, it’s Obama’s fault. It’s the military’s fault. By the way, MY generals are the best and most respected ever. And they lost Ryan.

On another note, stick the Brazzers logo on that KellyAnne Conway pic, and hilarity ensues.

Maybe that’s what Trump was referring to on the phone when he kept saying, “Bomp. Bomp.”

Pure speculation on my part, but:

Conway is not especially tall and a lot of the men in that picture appear to be over 6’. I bet that when she took the picture she took off her shoes and stood up on the couch so that she could get most of the heads and faces in the shot. She then folded up her legs to check to see how well the photo came out and… then the official photographer took the picture.

Stop trying to pretend like it’s not stupid.

Nice theory, but nope. This is why she was on the couch:

She was kneeling to use her phone. Shoes on.

The worst thing about being an optimist is that people are forever disappointing you.

At least Kellyanne Conway gave us this article:

Every time she does something that humanizes her, like crouching on a couch looking at her phone like a 20 year old sorority gal would, I like to think that story is real.

This is my favorite Trump quote of the month. We know he is a cable news addict, I guess he just changed channels when they had the “experts” discuss the complexity of health care during the ACA debate?.

He has people for that. The best people. He’s a more instinctive leader type guy.

fuck. i can’t do it. not even for as long as it takes to write a dry-wit mockery post. sigh.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – As much as I disliked Bush as President, I like him as an ex-President. He actually had the most diverse cabinet in history (up to that point, don’t know if Obama surpassed him), he signed legislation establishing the Museum of African American History and Culture and his wife serves on the board. It’s worth reading his speech at the museum’s anniversary:

His new book is portraits he painted of veterans injured in combat and he talks about what an honor it was to get to know them all personally. There’s great diversity represented in the book (reflective of our military) and all the proceeds go to support veterans.

There are other things I’ve read about the work he and Laura are doing these days that impressed me at the time but I’m forgetting now. Ultimately, though it’s at contrast with many of the policies he supported as president, he seems to have a real appreciation of diversity that goes beyond the empty posturing you get from most politicians.

Trump has no redeeming qualities from his private life and I suspect there would be a lot of tasteless but deserved rejoicing in the streets from a premature Trump death. Speak no ill of the dead be damned.

I mean, you’re not wrong. I know I would be, decency be damned.

Jesus. This address is painful.

“Everything sucks, but I’m going to fix it all with magic.”

I admire you for watching. I can’t do it any more than I can watch footage of a terrible elementary school play.

Bradd Jaffy: More excerpts from Trump’s address to Congress

Not intended as a compliment but I don’t think Trump wrote these.
