The difference here is that the stuff today is directly damaging himself.

I guess. Except that he’s not Candidate Trump anymore, he’s President Trump, and none of his legislative priorities are moving at all because the legislators are preoccupied with the constant drama coming from the White House.

He’s supposed to be running things. Where are the white papers? Where’s the draft legislation that should be coming out by now? It’s not like Republicans have forever and ever to get stuff passed.

This is exactly the point the Lindsay Graham makes and he promises to get to the bottom of it. It should be an interesting investigation.

Let’s just be honest with ourselves. Trump doesn’t care. He wants to be in charge, stay in charge, put the people he wants in to positions he wants them in and just reap the rewards. He has his own personal agenda that he is going to try to get passed through EOs. The GOP agenda? He couldn’t care less about that. The media focusing on things like backroom Russia deals or how he’s running his administration wrong, that is bad for him, in his eyes. Those are the kinds of things that get CEOs removed from companies. That’s how he sees this whole thing. This is his company and he wants to be able to run it as he sees fit.

Is he supposed to be running things, keeping the country on track, looking out for the constituents, coordinating with the GOP leadership, working on budgets, evaluating security briefings, etc.? Of course he is. But that stuff is boring and not what he’s looking to do. Ego-stroking and staying in power is all that matters.

The Ryan health care bill is supposed to be publicized next week. It will be a wonderful distraction from Trump’s personal problems as journalists and opponents are going to have to actually read the damn thing.

@matthewchampion:

how news works:
Thursday: Conservative radio show says Obama sought Trump wiretap
Friday: Breitbart reports this
Saturday: Trump tweets it https://t.co/uqJ4dtmV73

His quote seemed ambiguous. Bottom of which, Trump’s actions resulting in a wiretap in the first place, or the wiretap itself? I’m inclined to think the latter, as the GOP hasn’t exactly been quick to move on anything that might impact them.

I’ll believe Lindsay when he does something more than talk. Graham (McCain, too) has been all hat and no cattle when it comes to actually doing anything about Trump publically.

Well, Graham is no fan of Trump, and has been genuinely hostile to him the whole time. Replacing Trump with Pence would be fantastic for Lindsey.

I think by treating Trump’s allegation seriously and promising an investigation (he is on the Judiciary which I think would have jurisdiction). He puts Trump in a really bad position.

Either Trump is delusional (most likely) and investigation will prove this making Trump look bad. Who knows what will happen but one possible thing would be to put the adults in charge of the White House and take away Trump’s twitter account. If Trump supporter try and stop the investigation. Lindsey can complain how this the most serious thing since Watergate.

Or the wiretapping was obtained legally, which will hasten the impeachment process.

Or Obama acted illegally, which will put Sen. Graham (a former JAG prosecutor) in the fun position of going after the Obama administration, and make all the RINO charges against Graham disappear. Setting him up for a 2020 WH run.

In the right-wing newsverse this is playing out differently

I think this is a great news. We want the Republican base fired up and demanding an investigation into this. I’m sure that Chairman Grassley would prefer to ignore this, but if Sen. Sasse and Graham are on the side of the base in demanding an investigation, he may have to go along.

All this fucking conspiracy whining is rich. Imagine if the cheeto fucker had lost the election.

Brace, brace, brace!

Trump’s team is trying again to reboot this week, with the president expected to sign a new executive order Monday implementing a travel ban for some countries after the initial one was blocked in federal court. The administration also intends to introduce a legislative plan later in the week to repeal and replace Obama’s health-care law, officials said.

I look forward to seeing the Trump administration with egg all over its face again.

Seeing the headlines of Trump attacking Obama is like seeing some third world dictator trying to discredit his predecessor: all accusation but zero evidence. But I’m not surprised. Trump promised political prosecution during his campaign against Hilary, now he is fulfilling his campaign promise, albeit against Obama.

This is very true, and all that needs to be said. Sad.

Winning!

(Actually not sure why I’m joking as the country descends into 3rd world nation status. Part of me thinks since Americans are pants on head stupid we kinda deserve this.)

EDIT: This is satire. Keeping it for posterity.

Paul Ryan, policy wonk:

“And if our biology allowed for a safe way to have intercourse, if we were meant to have intercourse completely naturally and not get pregnant because of it, then God would have included something about it in one of his Holy Books.

Isn’t this a satire page?

I have to admit it is hard to discern the distinction these days.

Frig, you’re right!
Thanks for catching that.
