I’m sort of glad that he’s so clearly horrible to so many people that I can stop thinking about his fool ass and be happier during the day.

How long until Trump calls Japan losers because they got attacked with an atomic bomb?

That crazy Constitution and Bill of Rights. So crazy… for preventing… retribution.

Well, he already stated that he’d love to tighten libel laws, so there’s that.

corrected a very important to correct typo. He wants to loosen them so he can sue news outfits who say mean things about him.

My daughters had several friends join the military out of high school. I remember we had a get together at our house when one of the Air Force kids offered me his unit’s “coin”, which was something I had not known existed. The guy was off to Afghanistan the next week and I told him thanks but no thanks. I would have been just too freaked out had something happened to him during his time over there.
I think in this case Trump felt honored by what he was given but he didn’t know how to express himself about it. I think he has trouble doing that on most topics.
I think Trump is used to being the bull in the china shop. He goes in and tells people what they are going to do based on his plans. He has no idea how to express his thoughts in a way that isn’t an aggressive sales call.

I think Trump feels the Purple Heart giver was the one honored. As in, the medal went to his holiness, The Donald, therefore the giver should feel honored and blessed.

I’m not inclined to give Trump any benefit of the doubt. He has clearly shown his hand throughout this campaign (and life, probably). I agree with rowe33.
Yup. This reminds of this article about how Pence is trying to tell Flake (Junior R Senator from AZ) that Trump is different in private. At some point, you have to stop assuming that Trump doesn’t mean what he says.
Flake said he didn’t know what Pence meant when he said Trump is different in private.
“If you could govern in private, I guess that would be OK, but you can’t,” Flake said, adding “Yes, it is possible” Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton could win Arizona, a historically Republican-leaning state.

Also… who the fuck cares if he’s different in private? Being leader of the free world isn’t a job that takes place in private. If he’s a jackass in public, that means that he’s going to be performing 90% of the presidency as a jackass.
Also, Rick Wilson, who is some ultra conservatve who also hates Trump to pieces, wrote this:
Beat him like a drum: Donald Trump must not just lose in November; to correct the institutions he’s broken, he must suffer a humiliating defeat

The bad thing here is that the exact same thing is said about Hillary - that she is a much ‘better’ person in a 1-on-1 setting. But what we get publicly is someone who can’t get through a conversation about her email server without coming across like she’s hiding a dead body.

I think there’s a difference between “public vs. private” for Trump compared to “speeches vs. interviews” for Clinton.
For example, her interview on Vox paints a striking reminder of just how incredibly smart and talented Clinton is:

She might be more personable in, well person, but some people are trying to claim that Donald Trump secretly isn’t a racist, misogynist, elitist who wants to extort our allies while having his finger on the nukes as a warning to our enemies, tax cut us into instant economics success and build literal walls to protect our borders is somehow on same page as Hillary smiling more genuinely when you’re across the table from her.

Yeah, but that’s just communication skills. While important for PR aspects of the presidency, it’s not integral to actually doing the work.
As far as I have seen, every time Clinton has actually had a job, she’s done it fairly well.
She’s not that great on a podium, though I hardly think she’s terrible. She just lacks natural charisma.
Between Trump and Hillary, though, who would you trust to perform public duties better, especially on the international stage?
Trump is a clown show. Hillary is accomplished. She was Secretary of State and managed to not blow up the world. I trust she will do the same as President. Trump is a jackass wildcard. I don’t trust him to not drop a nuke on ISIS or North Korea.
I don’t trust him not to drop a nuke on Mexico.
I don’t trust him not to drop a nuke on Megyn Kelly’s house three minutes into his own Inauguration, tbh.
I don’t trust him not to say something stupid and three minutes later nuke himself for saying it.
