The Artist Formerly Available in Record Stores

Prince gives away latest album free of charge with a British tabloid newspaper, over three weeks before it goes on sale. Retailers are up in arms over lost profits, since Prince obviously owes them a livelihood. Good stuff.

Well, if retailers paid for the records beforehand and can’t cancel or return the orders (anyone know how that works?), then I think they have a bit of a right to be upset.

From the article: “Prince’s mew album comes before a run of 21 concerts he will play in London this autumn.”

I guess Prince is going to take advantage of the latest Internet cat craze. Was the Rap Cat a guest artist on the album?

This sounds suspiciously like that thread about the supreme court decision on price floors. Poor retailers, not able to force the producer to charge everyone the same price.

This is hilarious. Prince is awesome.
