Hum, never seen her in concert but I’d bet she doesn’t actually sound like that live. ;)
Or you know, like even close to that…

Um, I think you’re wrong actually. That video has definately had some pretty heavy production work done on the vocals.
IMHO she sounds very different - and much better - without the production work! Because she’s a great singer.
EDIT: Heh, have done a bit of googling and Taylor is famous for heavy production work on her videos. That’s modern pop I guess. But some of the emotion gets lost IMO.
Everyone knows Dylan recorded the canonical version of Friday:
Thanks to whoever posted this on the forum some time ago.
Lots of great comments on the Red Dress video:
The fact that she didn’t turn off comments makes her braver than all of us
She’s not only hitting the notes, she’s beating them up
I attempted to run this through Antares Auto-Tune on Pro Tools and now my computer is on fire and my wife left me.
Flat earthers will say that she was in tune
For all the people who claim autotune has ruined music: I hope you’re happy now
plot twist: it’s actually a memorial service
This is truly fascinating. The dissonance between The Church’s beliefs and Sarah’s struggle with self-acceptance is reflected through the dissonance between Sarah’s voice and the entire rest of the band.
And probably my favorite:
This girl doesn’t need Jesus, she needs Simon Cowell
The fact that she didn’t turn off comments makes her braver than all of us
This one is really key for me. I know it’s a joke and all, but I do have to wonder how disconnected you have to be to allow comments on that video presumably because you expect compliments.
Again, if you’ve never experienced failure…

That’s a great thing about being a software developer. Every day provides an opportunity to make you feel like an idiot and second guess your decisions!
Look at Rebecca Black’s remix/remake video posted by @rhamorim. She was an internet joke for her original Friday music video, but she actually used that notoriety to Kickstart a semi-successful career with her garbage songs. Failing up, girl!
If Sarah Brand is smart, she can use this. She just has to own the joke and lean into it.
Oh look, an excuse to post the Best xkcd Ever Written!

There are always people who either don’t know the difference between good attention and bad attention or don’t care. And with fake internet points it’s even worse, since bad attention often generates lots of them.
Well, considering she’s getting her Master’s in Sociology I still expect it’s all just a sociological experiment having to do with whatever her thesis is.
At least, that’s what I tell myself so I can sleep at night. That video haunts my dreams. MAKE IT STOP!
Sociology always seems fun to me, but the building blocks was seem to get more and more vague and require more and more assumptions as you build upon more and more fields of study, from chemistry and biology, to psychology to other fields of sociology.
Its rough enough in Cognitive and Behavior Psychology, where you try to define, measure and predict what is going on, I can only assume its more nebulous when dealing with large groups of people.
Then again, large groups might be easier to measure because of the law of large numbers.

New Jersey launches an initiative to make driving across the state more fun by inspiring jokes about famous people’s “service area”.
Guess Rebecca Black is unfamiliar with Isadora Duncan.
I was gonna make a joke about the gold record sitting in the passenger seat, but as it turns out, it’s no joke - Friday is an actual gold certified record lol.
Cheesequake? I don’t know whether to be excited or scared.
Apparently it’s right in the middle of the Garden State Parkway, at the point where you’re halfway there, and also presumably livin’ on a prayer.

This disadvantage this girl has over Rebecca Black is that Rebecca got a lot of mileage out of Twitch.
No one is going to play this song as a meme these days out of DMCA fears.
