I’m not sure if this is a limited time special or not, but Amazon.com has the Playstation Eye for $30.96, which is a nice savings from the MSRP of $39.99. I checked on this as I know I’ll want one for LBP when it comes out and I thought I’d share my discovery for like minded folks.

What does it allow you to do for LBP? Make stickers, backgrounds and the like? Would a normal USB cam not work for this? As you can pick up those for relatively cheap.

(I still can’t get into the damned Beta!)

Yep. You can take pictures of whatever you want and get that stuff into the game. I don’t know if a normal USB cam would work for this or not. Does a USB cam usually work with a PS3?

Edit: Not all that helpful, he mentions that the EyeToy and Xbox cameras are confirmed, and the rest are ‘suspected’.

Seems like most ‘decent’ cams go for roughly the same price in any case.

Woah, the Xbox Live Vision camera “works great” with the PS3? Awesome! I guess I don’t have to get the PS3 Eye after all.

Interesting. I have the stupid Xbox VisionCam. I wonder if that’d work with LBP. I thought the Eye had some special something to it that made it better than other cameras, but if I don’t need it for LBP, I should cancel the order.

This article suggests that one must use the Playstation Eye to import pics into LBP. I’m not sure if that’s the case or not. It could merely be that Sony people are pimping the PS Eye as the camera to use, because the comments don’t explicitly state that other cams won’t work.

Some Targets have The Eye of Judgment game, which includes the PS3 Eye, on clearance for as low as $17.XX. If you live in Tampa, send me a PM and I’ll tell you which Target had seven of them in stock for $17.XX yesterday.

I snagged the last one @ the NW Hwy & Skillman Target in Dallas at that price. I really just wanted the Eye.

Anybody want a copy of Eye of Judgment? Does the game have any resale value?

I really enjoyed the Godfather on the original Xbox, for what it’s worth. I’ve seen it for around $10 (used) for 360 at local EB/Gamestop stores, so you might be able to get a better deal than $16.

Godfather on the Wii is a great game. Everything good and bad about the underpowered console and its silly controls, in a nutshell. The first time you garrote a cop, toss a man in a baker’s oven, or slam some lady’s head into a cash register to intimidate a store owner, you’ll know what I mean.

I saw that the indie swordfighting game, Determinance, is down to $10 now. I may grab it tonight and see if the full game is worth bothering with. The demo seemed kind of fun, but I don’t plan to do a lot of multiplayer so I’m not sure if it’s enough to keep me entertained long-term. Would have been nice if they threw in a little squad management strategy, like Mount&Blade, to surround the core game mechanic.

i’m intrigued by death jr. from what i’ve read, its a pretty good platformer with great graphics for the wii

Cool. I always wanted to check out that Area 51 game. I mean, it has David Duchovny’s voice. The sexual tension is palpable.
