$5 for Stalker is pretty great. I’d almost be tempted to buy a Steam version of it in addition to my disc copy at that price. It’s just a really bad time of year for that sort of double spending.
Wow, STALKER for 5 lousy bucks? Awesome.

Same here… I’m pretty tapped out, but it’s tempting. Great game. I’m probably gonna start the sequel (which I bought on Steam a few months back) this weekend.

I was hoping for a stalker combo deal to get both of them or something but $5 dang I couldn’t pass it up.

Yeah even though I already have the disc version for 5 bucks its hard to pass up having it tied to my steam account.
New players shouldn’t forget that it takes a some effort to get into it, but it’s definitely worth it.

I have heard that the Steam version of STALKER doesn’t support mods and has been left a version behind the retail disc. Is that true? I’ve heard mods really help the game out. Still, $5.
Steam is fine. They are a version behind because THQ is being dicks about it, but it shouldn’t affect the popular mods and the last version is only a couple of multiplayer fixes. You won’t be able to find many multiplayer servers that the Steam version can play on, but you’re not missing out on anything.
I’m in the same boat. I bought the game at full price when it came out, but I’ve been postponing actually playing it until I get a bigger chunk of time. And now it’s tempting to get the Steam version just so that I don’t have to worry about finding the DVD again.
Goozex gift cards are 50% off until the 31st. That means you can buy 1000 points for $25. Pretty sweet deal, gonna use this to pick up GRID.
I can’t remember exactly, but I believe there is no CD check on the original. So at least you wouldn’t have to keep popping in it and out. I could be mistaken though.
Even if it doesn’t require a disc check, getting a Steam version (theoretically) means that you never have to find the disc again, even if you get a new computer.
Stalker seems worth checking out.

One of my favorite games of the past five years. It’s still completely worth full price in my opinion. At $5, it’s an amazing deal.
Just bought Stalker, so thanks for the tip. Unfortunately anti-aliasing doesn’t seem to work at all – thought they’d have that fixed by now.
It’s not something they just fix. The rendering engine makes it difficult to do.

Not games related, but Amazon has the new Fall Out Boy album (mp3 download) for $3.99 and the new All-American Rejects release for $2.99

You can force anti-aliasing on with newer nVidia drivers. I never did get it to work while I was actually playing the game, but since then, after getting new drivers, I can get it to work. It works in Clear Sky as well, for whatever that’s worth.
I would have been worth something a week ago when I was using an 8800 GT, but I’ve since switched to an ATI card so I guess I’ll just have to get used to the jaggies.
