I was tempted by STALKER: Clear Sky until I saw that it had third-party DRM as well as plain old Steam. The whole point of getting things on Steam is to have your games tied to your account, and not to a machine or group of machines. I’ll wait until that goes away.

I wonder how damaging it would be for Valve to put a policy in place that requires all games sold through Steam to be stripped of 3rd party DRM, since another DRM scheme is already in place.

Anyway - some things that people might miss being on sale, since they’re older and not as exciting:

Jagged Alliance 2 Gold is $5
Disciples 2 is $10
Sacred Gold is $5

All stuff I got on GOG earlier, but pretty good prices.

GoGamer’s Green Friday is upon us, and it’s pretty underwhelming. Really, this was the best they could do?

Whoa, geez. That is terrible.

Dead to Rights, Gore, Midnight Club 2, Alias, NHL 2005? Did GoGamer find a dusty box in the back of their warehouse or something?

Well, they do have Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. snort

(Actually, I was briefly intrigued by that title’s premise, until all the reviews declared it horrible).

Wow, apart from the stronghold legends game, civ3, titanquest and maybe the EA battlepack (tho both of those are only in the 48hour deal) theres nothin there for me at gogamer. I’d rather buy a used copy of splinter cell for less at a gamestop and be able to play it today.

I wouldn’t bother with Stronghold legends , the series went downhill after Crusaders, I remember Legends getting poor reviews from most magazines.

Steam will be the death of any free time I may have left after this holiday season.

So Fallout 3 PC for $40 on Steam seems to be the best deal on that game at the moment?

Ive seen it lower retail I thought but i have it for PS3 so wont buy it for PC/mods until its under $20 or so.

Edit: I think I’ve taken advantage of like 9+ steam games today, very nice sale. I’m gonna wait till the next big sale for GTA4, FarCry2, Sacred2 and Fallout3 tho.

I didnt want to pay the price for the Crysis combo but I did it. You get Crysis War for free tho so thats a nice little treat.

Why oh why am I contemplating buying Bioshock for $5 on Steam when I already own it on 360? I absolutely love the game, but do I really need to own it for two platforms?

Will you play it? Does the PC bring anything new to the table (if I’m remembering correctly it doesn’t – same content, no mods, etc.)? If not, I’d probably just pass. $5 is $5. I’m fighting the collector urge myself at the moment. It sucks, but better (in my case) to save the money and focus on the stuff I’ve already bought. =/

It’s easy for me to resist this time around, since I own Bioshock for the PC already. What I have to keep constantly reminding myself about is to not buy STALKER: Clear Sky for that price, since I haven’t gotten five minutes into the original yet, even though I bought it at release.

I already have BioShock, but I am deciding whether to get it on Steam and get rid of my physical copy.

I look at it this way: someday my 360 will be in the closet, and there’s no guarantee the next-gen XBox will be backwards-compatible. Your Steam games will follow you from PC upgrade to PC upgrade.

Plus, the PC version will let you use keyboard/mouse, and there’s a couple (albeit minor) DirectX 10 enhancements.

I bought it on the PC during a Steam sale and was in the same boat. It helped when I sold my 360 version for more than what it cost me for the discounted ($20?) PC version.

Game Crazy just had a ridiculous markdown on a bunch of their games starting today. I purchased Lost planet for 4.99 (new) and Soul Calibur IV for 24.99 (new). A slightly better list is here:

but not all deals are listed. My best suggestion is to go into the store and ask about the game you’re interested in.

Amazon.com’s Deal of the Day is Call of Duty World at War (360 & PS3) for $34.99.

Best Buy is offering a coupon for Reward Zone members that takes $20 off C&C Red Alert 3 (360 or PC) or the LOTRO: Mines of Moria expansion. There is no reason not to join the Reward Zone as it’s free, and also no reason not to join the Gamer’s Club portion of the Reward Zone as it’s also free and gets you $10 in gift certificates for every $150 you spend on games and game accessories at Best Buy.

Let me know if the coupon link doesn’t work and I’ll post a picture of it instead.
