Amazon’s Deal of the Day is the 80GB PS3 for $349.98.

Target has gone apeshit with the red tags. Haze, Fracture, Far Cry 2, Mercenaries 2, Viva Pinata Party Animals, Facebreaker, Legendary (PC), EndWar… it’s CLEARANCE TIME!

My local Target has red tagged most of those, but they’re all still about $30. I’d consider Endwar at that price, but of course that’s not one of the games my Target has marked down. It also hasn’t marked down Far Cry 2, which I already own and love anyway. I hope that it being marked down isn’t a sign that it did terribly. I would love to play a sequel to that game.

Apparently Ubisoft is happy with Far Cry 2’s “solid showing”. Prince of Persia is the one that’s not doing as hot as expected this time around.

Thanks Rock8. 2.9 million units sold sounds great to me. Of course 2.2 million units of Prince of Persia sounds pretty good too, so what the hell do I know?

Especially when compared to Mirror’s Edge’s seventeen total sales across all SKUs.

I was at CC this Sunday-- it was a madhouse-more people there than the day before Christmas and people were buying everything- and there was not a single good deal there- everything was raised back up to msrp and then 10% off. You can get anything in the store cheaper at Best Buy right across the street.

Oh, also, Mass Effect is now 16.99 at Amazon for the PC:

I would spend the three bucks more and get it through Steam to avoid the activation limits due to the DRM.

I thought the Steam version still had the activation limits? I.e., you’re stuck with SecuROM and Steam’s DRM.

I suppose it’s possible. I assumed the contrary due to the fact that Steam’s store is pretty good about mentioning when titles have non-Steam DRM-- for instance with X3: Terran Conflict, and there’s no mention of 3rd-party DRM with Mass Effect. Anyone here know the real skinny?

The steam version of Mass Effect does not have any 3rd party drm, as far as I know.

I think I read somewhere recently that EA was removing all additional DRM from the Steam versions of their games. Maybe I imagined it though, but I swear it seemed real.

I read that too. EA games will only have the built-in Steam DRM.

Ah, here we go.

Ooh, I wonder if the PS3 versions of those count towards the B2G1 this week.

Endwar is definitely worth 40 or less. I played in the beta, and had a really good time with it.

I was more noticing the HDTV discounts than the clearance items (aside from Mercs 2. If that drops another once or twice I’m all over it). Hard to believe that I might actually be able to afford an HDTV when tax returns come in. Maybe even a decent sized one (26" or so.)

The Bargain Gods were nice to me today. I went to CC during my lunch hour and was shocked to see they had several brand new Nintendo Wii’s in stock, priced at $224.99. The sales guy said they just received them this morning. I immediately snagged one. I’ve been wanting a Wii for some time, so this was quite a nice find. :)

Circuit City is still receiving new shipments of Wiis despite being insolvent and trying to sell all their existing stock and shut down all their stores? What the hell?

It’s their last chance to make some money?
